This position will maintain regular contact with Members, frequent visitors, student groups, Union staff in all departments, Campus and Visitor Relations and UW Police to nurture a network of communication and cooperation that enhances the safety and welcome of the Wisconsin Union. The Wisconsin Union includes Memorial Union, The Union Terrace, Red Gym, the Tong Family Marina, Union South, Union South Plaza, the Orchard at Union South and other locations where Union events occur. The Wisconsin Union is dedicated to social justice, diversity, equality, and respect among our staff, students, and activities.
Responsibilities:
Monitors and secures designated institutional property during special events to ensure the safety of students, staff and visitors. May assist with facility access requests and database maintenance.
5% Monitors and operates lighting and air controls and security cameras in a designated facility
15% Investigates alarms and security concerns in a designated facility under general supervision as needed
10% Receives access requests and dispatches respondents for a designated facility
50% Performs crowd control and patrols assigned facilities during special events
20% Assists with crowd control and patrols Union Terrace summer evenings and weekends and Union Facilites weekdays outside of Terrace season.

Qualifications:
Experience in Guest Services and/or Crowd Management is strongly preferred. Experience engaging and interacting with patrons on a daily basis. Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision.
May thru September hours: 3 PM - 11 PM with rotating weekends October to May hours: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm with the occasional weekend

Minimum $20.00 HOURLY Depending on Qualifications This position is eligible for a weekend shift differential of $0.80/hr and a night differential of $2.50/hr - non-stackable. The Wisconsin Union operates two buildings on the UW-Madison campus. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by twenty-two food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.
Student Affairs is led by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
