Description

The Assistant Dean for Pre-Licensure Programs (ADPLP) is both a strategic leader and tactical contributor to the School of Nursing (SON). Working under the Associate Dean for Education (ADE) the ADPLP provides internal and external leadership for all Pre-Licensure Programs in alignment with the SON mission, vision, and values. Works with leadership to identify program outcomes and deliverables. Develops goals and metrics designed to achieve outcomes. Collaborates with SON's internal and external strategic partners integral to achieving outcomes. Leads Pre-Licensure faculty team, student engagement, and delivery of high quality precision education. Develops internal and external metrics and feedback systems for continuous improvement. Develops a strategic plan for increasing visibility, reputation, and national ranking of the program. Establishes and implements effective strategies to ensure the right messaging reaches faculty, staff, students, and alumni, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the Pre-Licensure Programs strategic work. Serves on or leads various school or university-wide committees, advisory groups, taskforces, or projects as appropriate. Provides input on the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of Pre-Licensure Program faculty. Works closely with the Associate Dean for Education (ADE), the Directors of Pre-Licensure Programs, Program Administrators, Curriculum Committee, and Faculty to ensure Pre-Licensure Programs outcomes and continuous improvement; including collaboration on course offerings, program changes, and student experiences. Collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Admission and Financial Aid (ADAFA) regarding student recruitment, admission, and financial aid programs; collaborates with the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officers and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Diversity Initiatives to support all students, including those with special needs, testing accommodations, and mental health support; collaborates with the Associate Dean for Clinical Partnerships on issues related to clinical placements; and collaborates with the Associate Dean for Research to assure appropriate integration of research and faculty research expertise into curriculum.

The ADPLP will hold a terminal degree (PhD or equivalent, or DNP) and licensure as a Registered Nurse. Experience in undergraduate /pre-licensure nursing education is required and academic nursing leadership experience is preferred. This is a three-year administrative position with re-appointment annually based upon performance appraisal completed by the Associate Dean for Education (ADE).Under the Supervision of the Associate Dean for Education the ADGCP will ensure the following: Thought Leadership* Strategically aligns with the ADE and SON Leadership team* Cultivates innovative approaches to advance the Pre-licensure Programs in accordance with the NHWSN's mission and vision* Sets the standard for precision competency-based education to improve student learning and success* Leads strategic action with key stakeholders integral to achieving outcomesProgram Leadership and Management* Leads the Pre-licensure programs to eminence in outcomes and reputation* As the Pre-licensure Programs leader, exhibits vision, courage, and optimism * Collaborates with NHWSN, Emory, and community leaders to promote community, partnership, mentoring and diverse perspectives* Oversees the Pre-licensure Program Directors and faculty to achieve high quality precision education and student success, including student success policy and strategy development* Oversees Pre-licensure Program student experience outcomes; ensuring students are treated with respect and dignity* Advances diversity and inclusion priorities in collaboration with the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officers and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Diversity Initiatives * Leads student engagement that fosters leadership and student outcomes* Provides leadership in the management of the Pre-licensure Programs through curriculum development, implementation of innovations, systematic evaluation, and program planning* Collaborates with the Pre-licensure Programs Program Directors to conduct faculty meetings, program evaluation, and development * Supports use of innovative technological teaching methods and tools for the Pre-licensure Programs for continuous improvement, including advancement of distance education delivery models* Collaborates with the Associate Dean and Director for Clinical Partnerships to ensure clinical education competencies are achieved* Ensures achievement of credentialing and accreditation standards* Advises on hiring, supervision, and evaluation of the Pre-licensure program faculty, including identifying programmatic needs for faculty recruitment and retention* Responsible for Pre-licensure programs faculty assignments in collaboration with Program Directors and SADAA* Collaborates with the Director of Curriculum and Accreditation to develop and maintain program policies and student handbook and assures compliance with all educational and accreditation policies. * Oversees Pre-licensure program curriculum development, including approval of recommendations for course, curricula and program changes submitted to the Curriculum committee.* Collaborates with Director of Curriculum and Accreditation, Program Directors, and faculty to develop schema for course offerings and schedules each semester and assuring compliance with university policies. * Ensures strategic alignment with the SON leadership team, as a member or ex-officio of SON committees, including the SON Curriculum Committee, Admissions Committee, Progressions Committee, Program Evaluation Committee, Faculty Search, and Advisory Committees.University and Community Engagement* Develops and maintains strategic relationships to advance the Pre-licensure programs outcomes* Collaborates with Emory University, WHSC, EHC, and community leaders to advance Pre-licensure education* Chairs the SON Pre-licensure Education Advisory Council* Serves on and collaborates with Emory OUA and Associate Deans * Supports strategic alignment with the SON leadership team, as a member of external committees* Serves on university committees on registration, calendar, and academic compliance as needed.Advising/Mentoring* Oversees Pre-licensure Student Advisement and Mentoring Program in collaboration with Pre-licensure program directors* Develops and oversees student success initiatives with Program Directors and the School Progression Committee* Mentors and sponsors Pre-licensure programs faculty to advance education, scholarship, and professional development outcomesStudent Recruitment and Enrollment* Advances SON Leadership's goals related to enrollment in collaboration with Admissions* Sets standards in collaboration with Admissions for student eligibility, uses internal and external data, and supports admission of high quality candidates for Pre-licensure programsMetrics and Outcomes* Ensures Pre-licensure Programs outcomes meet the high quality standards of the NHWSN, including a focus on retaining and advancing the program's high NCLEX pass rates* Advances SON leadership's goals related to enrollment in collaboration with Admissions* Advances SON leadership's goals related to clinical partnerships and IPE initiatives in collaboration with Office of Clinical Relationships and Clinical Placements* Advances SON leadership's goals related to graduation rates * Advances SON leadership's goals related to certification pass rates* Advances SON leadership's goals related to program national rec
