Job Summary:

The Hawk Center for Investment Analysis of the Wisconsin School of Business is seeking an Assistant Director. Under the supervision of the Center's Director, this individual will advance Center objectives, including the recruitment, education and placement of students into careers in investment management. In addition to student support, key components of this role include development and maintenance of alumni relations, coordination with the financial experts participating in our classrooms, oversight of financial and alumni records, planning Center events, and organizing student travel. The Assistant Director will coordinate with the staff of the MBA and MS program offices and the Finance Department within the School of Business.

-50% STUDENT SERVICES
The Assistant Director is a primary contact in the Hawk Center for students and applicants to Hawk Center programs, including the Applied Securities Analysis Program (ASAP), Capital Management Club (CMC) and Applied Equity Markets Research (AEMR) course. These responsibilities include the following:
-Assure excellent student recruiting and advising, as well as maintain the Hawk Center's on-line database of student and alumni information.
-Act as a non-faculty advisor to students based on their professional interests; develop relationships to advise students on interviewing strategies and employment interests.
-Provide leadership in Hawk Center recruiting for the ASAP, CMC and AEMR. This includes working with the full-time MBA and MS program offices on School-wide committees, project teams and related events, including
-Running the annual MBA Program Interview stream and directing student events related to MBA Orientation week, including the delivery of career services content
-Directing the interviews of student applicants for the MS degree
-Facilitate student involvement in industry related activities such as the CFA Investment Research Challenge, the annual CFA Exam process and other CFA events to enhance the learning opportunities for the Center's students.
-Organize and lead efforts to plan the annual student trips to the East Coast by coordinating with Hawk Center alumni and other industry contacts to insure an exceptional learning experience for the Center's students.
-Facilitate recruitment efforts with employers to match interested students with prospective recruiters.
-Represent the Hawk Center at various conferences, meetings and initiatives as appropriate.
-Assist the Director of the Hawk Center as appropriate.

-30% ALUMNI RELATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT
The Assistant Director holds responsibility in implementing and executing our strategy for alumni relations and development. This requires coordination with WSB Alumni Relations and UW Foundation, and includes the following:
-Messaging for the fundraising campaign to promote participation and increased giving by alumni
-Delivery of materials that encourage philanthropy
-Stewardship of donors
-Overseeing accuracy of website devoted to Center campaigns
-Oversee and insure accuracy of new alumni portal that can be used by alumni to access information and marketing materials related to the Hawk Center in coordinate on with the School's web design team
-Manage alumni data as it relates to demographics, career and engagement levels and ensure entry of this data into the appropriate campus systems
-Plan and oversee numerous alumni receptions that occur each year
-Plan and oversee the execution of the Hawk Center's Bi-Annual Alumni Conference
-Oversee creation and delivery of annual alumni newsletters

-20% EXTERNAL RELATIONS
The Assistant Director holds responsibility for Hawk Center external relations and marketing efforts. This includes the following:
-Develop and implement marketing strategies for Hawk Center in coordination with the WSB Marketing and Strategic Communications office (MSC), including the evaluation of metrics to help measure marketing effectiveness.
-Takes primary responsibility for creating and updating Center marketing materials used to promote ASAP's MBA and MS degree opportunities to prospective students in coordination with the MBA Program office and the IMC
-Oversee the promotion, application and admission evaluation process for any newly created programs or degree opportunities in the Hawk Center

Responsibilities: Oversees the daily management of programs, services, activities, facilities, policies and/or processes in order to support student success in various areas of student affairs. Works under broad, administrative direction with significant responsibility for assigned area(s) of responsibility. Responds to inquiries from University departments, educational institutions, the community, and/or external agencies. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
  • 20% Plans, organizes, administers, and manages processes and operations related to assigned area(s) of responsibility
  • 10% Monitors, evaluates, and modifies processes, procedures, and/or standards, ensuring alignment with the Institution's mission, values, goals, and objectives, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • 10% Advises and enforces Institution policies related to services in Student Affairs
  • 15% Serves as the program or unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups
  • 15% Schedules logistics and secures resources to support the operational plans of the program or unit
  • 10% May monitor the program budget and approve expenditures
  • 5% May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
  • 15% Student Recruitment & Admissions

Required:
5 years of experience in an academic or business setting.

Preferred:
Well qualified candidates will have experience and comfort working with multiple constituencies. Individuals should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and be committed to a high level of customer service.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: student services, event management, project management, communications, budget/financial management, and/or marketing.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum $55,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
