Responsibilities The Clerkship Curriculum Manager will oversee the implementation, assessment and improvement of the clerkship programs at the UC Davis School of Medicine. Under direction of the Director of Curriculum and Education Technology, the Clerkship Curriculum Manager will lead curricular threads and programs that span the third year of curriculum instruction, ensuring these clinical experiences are implemented in a way that addresses the vision of the faculty and meets the needs of our students. This individual will serve as a member of the Office of Medical Education Management Team and attend all associated curriculum and admissions committees.
The responsibilities include management of curricular development projects, complex course scheduling which integrates block and rotation-based courses, relationship building and coordination with clinical sites and overseeing the site support and affiliate agreement process for partner sites, technological solutions to integrate students at distance sites with those students here on campus and supervision program administrators, whose responsibility is the delivery of curricular content.
This individual is expected to utilize initiative, judgment, and discretion in researching, analyzing and compiling necessary background information to assist the faculty and staff in responding to a wide variety of complex needs and project issues. Ability to maintain composed demeanor when interacting with peers, staff, employees and colleagues and contribute to a diverse workplace by advancing the campus Principles of Community in all activities. This position requires a great deal of flexibility as they will serve as lead of a reorganized unit.
This position responds to the needs of the Vice Dean for Medical Education, the School of Medicine Deans, Administrative and Academic Directors, the Instructors of Record and the Curriculum Committees, whose responsibility it is to oversee the curriculum. This person will be responsible for researching issues and initiating an array of correspondence in support of the faculty and students, applying problem-solving techniques to resolve various situations.
Required Qualifications:
Supervisory and/or leadership experience.
Program administration experience preferably in medical education, which includes planning, analysis, organization, leadership, conflict resolution, decision-making and independent thinking.
Experience assessing information, anticipating problems, developing solutions, making decisions and implementing changes.
Experience creating and delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
Experience maintaining a high degree of discretion, integrity, and sensitivity to confidentiality and privacy.
Skills to conduct analysis including problem identification, possible solutions, and implementation of plans for positive resolution.
Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to clearly and effectively interact convey and present information to diverse group of individuals.
Strong organizational and time management skills to establish goals, ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple work assignments and deadlines efficiently despite frequent interruptions
Proficiency with computer software and hardware to utilize word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, desktop publishing, calendar, mail and internet functions (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, etc), website design, telecommunication and Internet-based technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal education and experience with adult learning theory to advance the curriculum of the school.
