The University of Arizona’s College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) invites applicants for the position of Assistant Dean for Student Affairs (Assistant Dean, Student Services Administration.) The transformational CVM experience promotes a spirit of inclusion that brings the community together for the purpose of acquiring knowledge in inspiring ways to produce day-one ready Veterinarians who reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. The Assistant Dean will provide systems-oriented and visionary leadership in a collaborative style that promotes overall student success. This position will be responsible for overseeing initiatives and services designed to maximize student success and academic progress in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine professional program. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs will work closely with CVM students, faculty, and staff to design, develop, and implement programs that support student growth in two critical areas: Student Life and Academic Support. The Assistant Dean will also interact and with a wide variety of constituents both at the University and externally to provide a comprehensive set of services to all CVM students.

General:
Work collaboratively to formulate the vision, goals, and objectives, both short-term and long-term, for Student Affairs to provide excellent student services in alignment with the mission of the CVM.
Conduct strategic and long-range planning and budgeting.
Develop and implement an ongoing and coherent assessment plan to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and continuing enhancement of the student experience.
Work collaboratively to provide advice and problem-solve on complex academic and student affairs policy issues.
Supervises Student Affairs staff members with continuous and constructive feedback for the purpose of promoting meaningful personal growth and professional development.
Participate on various committees at the CVM and/or University.
Provide periodic and annual reports.
Represent the Associate Dean and/or others in the Dean’s Leadership Team where appropriate.
Other duties as assigned.
Student Life:
Oversee the Office of Student Life which includes supervision of professional student services staff members.
Oversee the Wellness Center including its staff, activities, and programming.
Provide guidance and support for the formation and development of student government representatives, including elections, budget development, and expenditures.
Provide guidance and support for the formation and development of student clubs and their activities.
Provide guidance and support to all Student Life programming and events throughout the year and including Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, and Graduation.
Maintain currency in the field and knowledge of best practices in professional student development.
Academic Support:
Oversee the Office of Wildcat Learning (OWL) which includes supervision of professional Learning Specialists and Team Based Learning (TBL) Instructors.
Oversee the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE) Prep Program.
Maintain currency in the field and knowledge of best practices in academic support and collaborative learning systems for professional students.
