The Director, Communications and Engagement is a local communications leader who drives a variety of engagement strategies within Global Programs and University Life (GPUL) â” leading the Division of Student Affairs, and working closely and collaboratively with Global Programs, and Global Services â” to maximize NYUâ™s studentsâ™ understanding of, and successful participation in, the wide variety of support services, programs and events available during their college journey. This role will oversee and execute communications strategies to promote programs, resources, and services; plan and execute timely, strategic, innovative, and well-branded digital, social, and print (as needed) campaigns and initiatives for 60,000+ students and 16,000+ faculty and staff spanning 12 global sites. Educate staff on latest generational and communications trends and best practices; guide brand development and design strategy; and help shape policies, procedures, and âœnext practicesâ in marketing, social media, and design. The Director will liaise with relevant internal and cross-university stakeholders as well as act as lead on shared initiatives, ensuring proper support and distribution of resources.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications or related field.
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in marketing, communications or related field.
Required Experience: 7+ years of experience in marketing and communications. Management experience.
Preferred Experience: 7+ years management, project management or change management.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Independent and critical thinker with experience in leading data-driven, communication strategies across a wide-variety of channels â“ print, digital, paid media, PR, and social media. Adept at storytelling; experience writing compelling and digestible copy and able to simplify and clarify complex concepts. Able to balance highly creative and conceptual thinking with business strategy. Superb written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills. Able to present in front of large crowds. Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and priorities; Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with and across teams and to function well in a larger and global environment; Results and detail oriented, highly organized and creative self-starter; Ability to set goals and easily adapt to changing demands; Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Adobe Creative Suite programs (advanced experience with either Photoshop or Illustrator and be proficient with InDesign). Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and presentation software (Google Slides, Keynote, Powerpoint); experience using online interactive presentation platforms to build beautiful and compelling presentations. Understanding of digital media platforms/social media and impact of how to deliver multimedia projects across digital/other platforms. Experience with video and/or podcast production with strong writing and editing skills. Knowledge of film editing software (Final Cut, Avid, or Adobe Premiere). Exceptional knowledge of technology and trends, as well as best practices for communicating to Millenial, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha populations.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $105,000.00 to USD $155,000.00.
