Position Summary: The general responsibility of the Director of Assessment and Program Evaluation is to foster excellence in medical education, to contribute to the knowledge base that informs decisions in medical education by providing expertise and support for the development of appropriate assessment methodologies, program evaluation and continuous quality improvement strategies. The Director of Assessment and Program Evaluation works closely with and under the direct supervision of the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree. Two years professional experience related to the duties of the position. Experience in curriculum development/educational methodology, assessment, program evaluation. Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team, provide strategic direction and oversight, and manage complex projects. Experience and aptitude with curriculum management, academic records databases and program evaluation software.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree or PhD. Experience using and/or developing CQI protocols in higher education. Formal training in statistics and/or research design.
Duties & Responsibilities: Establishes and facilitates assessment and evaluation protocols for the continuous improvement of academic programs across the curriculum, Including: measuring and assuring quality for teaching, learning and evaluation; analyzing and interpreting qualitative education data; designing and implementing questionnaires, surveys, interviews, and focus groups. Creates and maintains CQI for the school including disseminating evaluation results, making recommendations and conducting follow-up; helping to visualize data, design dashboards, and creates reports. Oversees the assessment program for medical students across the curriculum in conjunction with support staff within the Office of Medical Education. Supports the demonstration of compliance with accreditation standards for the LCME related to assessment, evaluation and CQI. Assists faculty in development of and standard setting procedures for student assessment. Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses of assessment and evaluation data. Assists faculty in the design and analysis of educational scholarship. Chairs the Curriculum Committees Subcommittee for Program Improvement & Evaluation. Supports evaluation of other school of medicine functions, e.g., Admissions, Student Affairs, Diversity, and Faculty Development as directed. Completes special projects as assigned, e.g., predictive modeling for student success. Performs other duties as assigned.
