Our Physical Education teacher must have an in-depth understanding of teaching physical education to Lower School and Middle School aged students, and be committed to our educational commitment to comprehensive student wellness.
The individual should prioritize relationship building with colleagues, students, and their families. Collaboration will include being able to establish an effective working relationship with the Assistant Head of School for Student Affairs and the Chairs of Physical Education. They must be able to exercise good judgment and comply with school standards as they relate to faculty conduct.
Reports to: Assistant Head of School for Student Affairs
Responsibilities:
The duties will include teaching physical education in the Lower School and Middle School
Working cooperatively with other health and physical education teachers in planning and implementing a comprehensive program
Establish and maintain standards of excellence for supervision and student engagement
Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration as needed regarding social, emotional, and physical development of students
Plan and ensure that curriculum and lessons are designed to meet the needs of multiple levels of skill and a wide range of learners
Coaching sports in at least two seasons is required with strong preference for coaching at the Varsity level
Flexibility to work in a wide variety of settings and shared facilities
Having experience supporting social emotional learning inside and outside of the classroom; an eagerness and ability to support our Lead From Here curriculum
Demonstrating cultural competence and the ability to connect with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and parents

Qualifications:
A degree in Physical Education and/or Health
Physical Education teaching experience is essential
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with faculty team members are of paramount importance;
Effective technology skills, including the ability to use our learning management systems (Canvas and Veracross);
CPR certification and first aid training are required
