The Residential Life and Housing Department at the College of Saint Benedict invites applications for a full-time (.92 FTE), benefit eligible position of Residence Director.

In support of the four-year residential experience at the College of Saint Benedict, the Residence Director (RD) is responsible for creating a supportive environment in a campus residential area that promotes the values and practices of Catholic, Benedictine living with an intentional focus on the development of women. The RD serves as a mentor, resource person, and role model to residents and student staff members. The Residence Director is responsible for implementing the residential experience in their area, including facilitation of hall/area programming, training and supervision of resident assistants or community advisors, and community development.

CSB houses approximately 1600 women residents in both traditional-style residence halls and campus apartments and houses. Through our residential curriculum, the Residential Life & Housing department supports the institutional learning goals of embracing difference, thinking deeply, engaging globally, living courageously, and serving graciously. All these areas connect to the department's central objective of creating “community always” as a reflection of our Benedictine values.

Residential Life professional staff supervise approximately 40 diverse resident assistants and community advisors. We work with the student staff to support them as they support their residents, and focus on their roles as front-line student assistance, while also promoting professional development and self-care. In addition to work within the residential curriculum and with student staff, professional staff members in the department build close connections with residents through their day-to-day work, and involvement in campus events and within the community. While the College of Saint Benedict is in a coordinate relationship with Saint John's University, the residential life programs on both campuses are largely separate, with different staffing models and programming for the development of young women and men, respectively.

The College of Saint Benedict (CSB), a liberal arts college for women, and Saint John's University (SJU), a liberal arts college for men with a co-educational graduate School of Theology·Seminary, are located six miles apart in central Minnesota, just outside the city of St. Cloud and 70 miles from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. CSB and SJU are Catholic colleges in the Benedictine tradition, which emphasizes a diverse and welcoming learning and working environment inclusive of all cultures, perspectives, abilities, identities and faiths.

Unique in all of higher education, CSB and SJU are distinguished by their commitment to the holistic transformational development of women and men within the context of a unified, coeducational experience. This "coordinate relationship" offers a common curriculum, unified academic departments, identical degree requirements and a single academic calendar. Students from both campuses attend classes together and faculty teach students from both campuses. All students, faculty, and staff have the opportunity to experience and engage with the two institutions. For further information, see http://www.csbsju.edu/about.

CSB and SJU offer competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits program.

About College of Saint Benedict
The College of Saint Benedict (CSB), a liberal arts college for women, and Saint John's University (SJU), a liberal arts college for men, are located in the central lakes area of Minnesota, surrounded by more than 3,000 acres of pristine forests, prairies, and lakes. The campuses are minutes away from St. Cloud, an increasingly diverse regional center with a population of over 100,000, and 70 miles from Minneapolis and St. Paul. Some CSB/SJU faculty and staff choose to reside locally, while others commute from the Twin Cities. Both St. Cloud and the Twin Cities offer a wide range of fine arts, cultural, dining, recreational, and sporting opportunities. CSB and SJU are Catholic colleges in the Benedictine tradition enlivened by values of community, hospitality, stewardship, and justice. The schools are dedicated to cultivating an equitable, inclusive community founded on respect for all persons. Students, staff and faculty from many diverse belief systems and backgrounds collectively bring a rich dimension to the academic, cultural, and religious experience at CSB/SJU. We welcome faculty who devote themselves with passion and integrity to their disciplines and to a transformative ed...ucation of their students. With a total enrollment of approximately 3600 students, faculty members develop relationships with students in small classroom settings and have opportunities to work closely with students on research projects, experiential learning experiences, and study abroad programs. Recent initiatives to create a dynamic general education curriculum and to develop plans for a new teaching and learning center demonstrate strong institutional support for faculty development. CSB and SJU offer competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits program.
