The Senior Director-Engagement and Operations provides visionary leadership, guidance, and direction in the continuous development and assessment of Northeastern's Cultural and Spiritual Life department. The Senior Director will be an experienced manager who is student focused. They will work to foster excellent working relationships with constituents across the University community.
Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Engagement, the Senior Director serves as a thought partner in establishing innovative and experiential programs and services that meet the needs of our current students while planning for the needs of the future. The Senior Director will plan, manage, and implement a strategic direction for Cultural and Spiritual Life. The Sr Director will manage and develop the staff who make-up Cultural and Spiritual Life; the Asian American Center, the Center for Intercultural Engagement, the Center for Spirituality Dialogue and Service, the John D. O'Bryant African American Institute, the LatinX Student Cultural Center, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Allied Resource Center (LGBTQA), and the Social Justice Resource Center. Developing standards of practice and policies, this position will assist in fostering communities of care across our global network.
The Senior Director holds a critical role in coordinating and enhancing aspects of student life which includes serving as a member of the senior administrator on-call team, crisis management and conflict navigation, policy development, and being a senior level liaison to key partners such as We Care, Residential Life, Center for Student Involvement, etc. This is a live-off position with on-call responsibilities.
Qualifications
Master's Degree is required, in Student Affairs, Higher Education, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or related fields. The qualified candidate will possess a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive supervisory experience, team management, and change leadership experience. Must have a deep awareness of issues and concerns relevant to marginalized communities; meaningful experience working with students from a diversity of backgrounds and intersections. Excellent management, cross-cultural communication, and interpersonal skills are required. The position requires strategic thinking and program implementation skills, strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators in a complex, fast-paced and diverse environment. Responsibilities Include:
Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to the staff within Cultural and Spiritual Life Centers.
Oversee the operations of all Cultural and Spiritual Life Centers- including fiscal planning, development of departmental goals and objectives, and assessment of department activities.
Provide strategic direction for all Cultural and Spiritual Life Centers to enhance community impact and engagement.
