Are you passionate about working with young adults within a workplace that values team-oriented, supportive and collegial relationships? Are you looking to support students from historically marginalized and underrepresented communities and champion efforts that help to enhance a center’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion? Do you have interest in working with NCAA Division I student-athletes, coaches and teams? If any of these sound like you, then please consider applying to join the Lehigh University Counseling & Psychological Services (UCPS) team!

We are a professionally reflective, collaborative, dedicated and playful staff with enthusiasm and a willingness to try out new ideas. UCPS is well integrated within Student Affairs and the larger campus community, and is a valued department on campus. We are proud to be a part of the Student Affairs Division, which was recently recognized by the American College Personnel Association - College Student Educators International (ACPA), in partnership with Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs. The Lehigh community takes seriously our commitment to antiracism and The Principles of our Equitable Community.

UCPS houses a thriving, multi-tiered training program, which includes an APA-accredited doctoral internship program in health service psychology. The permanent staff of the center consists of seven senior staff psychologists (with the inclusion of this newly created position) and two administrative coordinators who all value collaboration and collegiality.  The Staff Psychologist’s main responsibilities are to assist the University Counseling and Psychological Services (UCPS) in fulfilling its commitment to support undergraduate and graduate students interested in personal, social, and academic growth while navigating the challenges of a college experience. UCPS staff participate within a community that supports student learning, promotes a healthy, safe campus community while ensuring an inclusive, equitable campus environment.  This is enacted through psychotherapeutic, consultative, administrative, supervisory, and educational involvement and intervention. Furthermore, our position as part of a university system allows for diversity and variety within our work, thus, throughout periods of the academic year, increased opportunity for hybrid work options become available.

Additional responsibilities of the Staff Psychologist include serving as an integral member of the training program through supervision of doctoral-level trainees and active involvement in the development and implementation of outreach programming and consultative relationships across campus. UCPS has a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and embraces individual cultural identities both within our center and in our larger campus community. UCPS is home to a longstanding and thriving sport psychology specialty training program, thus, this position is ideally suited for candidates who have both a passion for training and a specialized interest and skill in working in the realm of Sports Psychology and/or with historically marginalized or under-represented identities.

Preference will be given to applicants who have experienced the many delights of working in a college counseling center and enjoy facilitating group therapy; with interest and experience providing and coordinating outreach efforts, interest in specialty services in an area of interest relevant to a university population (e.g. Lehigh Athletics; Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity efforts); a passion for training future psychologists; and with interest in engaging in research or program evaluation to help further partnerships with professional peers.  Finally, UCPS houses a relatively small staff with a genuine enjoyment of spending time together and dropping in to open office doors. Therefore, we hope to find colleagues who will laugh with us, partner with us, practice mindfulness with us (when necessary), and celebrate with us the many good things that come our way.
