JOB SUMMARY
The Carroll Community College Wellbeing Coordinator (also referred to as TMA AmeriCorps VISTA or VISTA) will collaborate across campus and with the Carroll County Public schools to create a culture of wellbeing and proactive approaches to help Pell eligible and ?rst-generation students succeed at college. Using a trauma informed and wellbeing framework the TMA AmeriCorps VISTA will help to create a culture of wellbeing on campus and partner with Pell grant eligible and ?rst-generation students to understand their needs and how CCC can work with them to support their journey from high school through college. This will include qualitative and quantitative assessment, wellbeing programming, centralizing information and a campus wide newsletter. This position reports to the Director, Student Care and Integrity.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Work to be an integral part of creating a culture of wellbeing on campus
Assess the wellbeing of students on campus
Coordinate programming efforts across multiple groups
Centralize wellbeing resources
Create a wellbeing calendar and newsletter
Focus on PELL grant and ?rst-generation students to assist with resources and education around wellbeing practices and programs
Create partnership with Carroll County Public Schools to identify students’ wellbeing needs to start healthy habits in high school that can be supported once they attend college
Must be positive, cooperative and supportive
Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
Associate degree
Ability to work with diverse populations including low-income and minoritized students
Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Understanding or the ability to learn technology software
Self-starter who can take initiative, lead conversations, and create documents.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter
Repetitive motion (i.e. keyboarding)
Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
College campus; direct contact with students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices and meeting/training rooms. Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations and College policies. This schedule for this full-time position includes hours Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm for a total of 37.5 hours per week. Duration is 12 months.
