Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Students, the Director of Conduct and Community Standards oversees matters of academic and non-academic undergraduate student conduct, while also providing educational programming related to community standards and community well-being. The Undergraduate Deans' Office is part of Student Affairs, and has broad responsibility for the success of undergraduate students at the California Institute of Technology.
Most of Caltech's roughly 950 undergraduate students live on campus, in tightly-knit communities distributed among eight undergraduate 'Houses' and three independent residential facilities. These living and learning communities are an important dimension of the student experience and of our student support services, and conduct processes often involve dimensions of the student residential experience.
Student conduct at Caltech is governed by a distinctive Honor System, with an honor code that states: 'No member of the Caltech community shall take unfair advantage of any other member of the Caltech community.' Academic work is highly collaborative, and students, faculty, and staff share a commitment to upholding the values of the Honor System. Students are also expected to abide by all Institute policies and the Institute's Code of Conduct.
