Under the general supervision of the Program Director for the Chicanx/Latinx Student Success Center, also known as Centro, the Program Coordinator is responsible for providing support with the planning, coordination, implementation, and assessment of student success programs and workshops that serve students of Latinx descent and celebrate their heritage/culture. The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with internal and external partners and stakeholders that will make it possible for programs and activities to be sustained. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student undergraduate and graduate student leaders in a manner that empowers them to lead their own special projects and achieve desired outcomes. Create a welcoming, friendly, and affirming cultural academic space within the center that values, respects, and promotes an appreciation for the diverse Latinx communities at SJSU. The Program Coordinator will manage the center’s communication efforts, including the development and distribution of the weekly e-newsletter, creation of flyers, posting to social media outlets, and updating website content. As a member of the SJSU Solidarity Network, the Program Coordinator will attend monthly planning meetings and facilitate workshops and events. The Program Coordinator will work jointly with the rest of the center’s professional and student staff to coordinate the daily operations of the center, including the facilitation and hosting of campus visits by pre-collegiate programs, middle schools, and high schools. Additionally, will participate in yield efforts throughout the academic year, including visiting schools off-site, participating in SJSU’s Admitted Spartan Day and LA to the Bay Event. Program Coordinator will also assist with summer orientation efforts which may include offering presentations, workshops, and resource tabling. Lastly, the Program Coordinate is responsible for assisting the Program Director with the management of the fiscal budget. This includes, keeping record of all center expenditures, creating Purchase Orders, Direct Payments, etc. Lastly, the Program Coordinate will help lead the coordination of SJSU’s Chicano Commencement Ceremony at the end of the academic year that celebrates the scholastic achievements of Latinx graduates.
