Summary of Duties:
The College Coach will be responsible for providing direct student support services and resources to GEAR UP's 2023-2024 freshman class at WSU Pullman.
This position will be responsible for increasing GEAR UP student academic performance through direct mentoring and advising, providing referrals to student support services when necessary, supervise college peer mentors, promote student positive academic behaviors and non-cognitive skills. Will help guide students with college and career exploration and navigate through their college experience successfully. Plan and coordinate cohort local events, activities, and workshops and create purchase requests accordingly. The College Coach will monitor, collect, and document student data for assessment and reporting requirements.
WSU Tri-Cities Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is funded with federal funds by the Department of Education whose purpose is to increase the number of low-income and underrepresented students who graduate from high school and successfully complete post-secondary education.
Required Qualifications:
Positions require a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional nights and weekends.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in the use of computers, MS Office software programs and Google workspace.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years of professional work experience in college admissions, financial aid, advising, and/or recruitment.
Experience with programs related to student retention and/or student success.
Demonstrated experience developing strong, collaborative relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and external constituents.
Developed skills in written and verbal communication including experience with providing group presentations, workshops, or trainings.
Demonstrated success in leading the work of others.
Experience managing, tracking, and reporting data.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Position Type: This is a Temporary position. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
