The Head of Dormitory reports directly to the Assistant Head for Student Affairs and performs duties as necessary to administer a vibrant, healthy, successful Residential Life Program.  The Head of Dormitory lives on campus and leads the residential faculty team. The Head of Dormitory also serves as a member of various Student Life committees and serves as a faculty advisor to students.  The Head of Dormitory keeps the Dean of Students informed of any matters pertaining to the boarding population, dormitory, and the residential life program.

 Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provides strong and consistent leadership and vision, including annual strategic planning, goal setting, budgeting, and assessment for the mission of the residential program.
• Oversees the residential program and ensures it is aligned with the school’s mission and the Student Life vision.
• Establishes a positive residential life community culture where equity and inclusion is encouraged and the safety and academic, social, and emotional well-being of the boarders is considered and prioritized in all aspects of the residential life program.
• Creates/provides a warm, positive community atmosphere in the dormitory and on campus.
• Works with the Residential faculty team to develop and implement a comprehensive and cohesive residential life experience
• Conducts ongoing evaluation of residential life program including effectiveness of training, weekend activities, equity of responsibilities and duties.
• Arranges and delivers professional development opportunities for residential faculty to train them for their role supervising, caring for and mentoring adolescent girls at an all-girls boarding and day school.
• Supervises subordinate staff, evaluates employees at scheduled intervals and ensures all division employees are evaluated by the appropriate manager as scheduled.
• Coordinates and administers the system of boarding prefects.
• Oversee the residential life calendar and the associated budget.
• Works with the Assistant Head for Student Affairs to schedule duty rotations, keep the duty calendar up to date, remain in consistent contact with student families, and supervises the opening and closing of the dormitory. 
• Coordinates all boarding student transportation for weekends and vacations, day student and guest overnights on campus, special residential meals with the dining service, and processes student weekend, vacation, and special permissions.
• Serves as the lead on communication with boarding-parents, acting as a liaison for parents and the school.
• Organizes the weekly dormitory meetings and ensures that all residential faculty, students, and parents are made aware of current notices.

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, business, counseling, public administration, or another appropriate field. (Candidates with a bachelor’s degree may be considered with an outstanding background of experience in residential life.)

• Three (3) or more years of experience working in an educational setting, preferably with international and domestic boarding and day students.
• Three (3) or more years of experience working in a residential life capacity.
• Three (3) or more years of experience working in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
• A strong background of effective communication with and on highly effective teams, and with a diverse range of constituent groups.
• A positive, collaborative, and inclusive psychological approach to working with all constituent groups.
• Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, business, counseling, public administration, or another appropriate field. (Candidates with a bachelor’s degree may be considered with an outstanding background of experience in residential life.)
• Five (5) or more years of experience working in a boarding school, with international and domestic boarding and day students.
• Five (5) or more years of experience working in a residential life capacity.
• Five (5) or more years of experience working in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
• An outstanding background of effective communication with and on highly effective teams, and with a diverse range of constituent groups.
• A positive, collaborative, and inclusive psychological approach to working with all constituent groups.
• Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands
Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes. Ability to drive during the day and evening.
