Carleton College welcomes applications for an Intern for Summer Liberal Arts Institute (SLAI). The Intern will be an integral team member furthering the program’s mission to provide a residential, academic, and social learning environment for college student employees and program participants. The position works in all aspects of planning, staffing, and implementation of the programs.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the professional staff on-call response for summer housing issues; respond to health concerns, emergency calls, and parent questions
Assist with check-in and check-out for all summer conference and pre-college programs
Manage and support office functions and logistics for preparation and execution of the AP Summer Institute and precollege high school programs.
Support the execution of weekly activities including working with campus partners to reserve spaces
Supervise student life outside of classes (specifically afternoon/evening activities and weekend fieldtrips)
Additional duties to be determined based on the interests of the successful candidate
Required Education and Skills:
Bachelor's degree
Ability to work independently, plan and organize complex tasks, problem solve, establish priorities and complete multiple, time-sensitive tasks to meet deadlines
Strong communication skills, both written and oral to work and interact with a diverse community of students, faculty, college staff, and external guests/program participants
