Description of Work:
The Finance Associate is a forward facing customer service contact and primary bookkeeper for Student Organization Financial Services (SOFS) office. This position uses the financial accounting package QuickBooks and SAP to maintain accounting records and pertinent data for 600 recognized student organization accounts. This position is responsible for ensuring finance transactions are completed in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL, and State regulations, policies, and guidelines.The Finance Associate primarily executes routine travel, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting, and asset management transactions for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). The Finance Associate also is responsible for cash handling, processing of internal charges and reconciling revenue and expense transactions. This position functions under close supervision and is expected utilize technology to provide professional services.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
High school diploma plus 2 years of related finance work experience; equivalent education/experience considered. Experience or training in Microsoft applications. Employee must have the ability to deal effectively with external and internal customers. A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience functioning in a team environment. Experience with SAP or large integrated finance system. Knowledge of finance terminology and practices. Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices.
