Detailed Job Description Conduct
Adjudicate student misconduct through the RIT Conduct process and management of the Center for Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution:
Assess and respond to incoming reports by analyzing and prioritizing cases, issuing interim and remedial actions;
Serve as a hearing officer for high level cases, including Title IX cases, and those resulting in suspension or expulsion;
Title IX Cases (D19.0 & C27.0) complete 8 plus hours of annual training; review the formal complaint; evaluate the investigative report; supervise the conduct of involved parties and their advisors during the live hearing; determine the relevance of questions asked during cross-examination; and explain any decision to exclude a question as irrelevant during cross-examination; draft and issue a written determination regarding responsibility to each party simultaneously.
Determine appropriate responses to misconduct and follow up with students;
Use an electronic database system (Maxient) to monitor, manage, and maintain information related to all student cases.
Primary coordinator of the Admissions Provisional process, including liaising between the various Admissions offices and Public Safety, and decisions on clearing applicants. Also completing background checks and letters for requests internally and externally.
Support supervision over the conduct responsibilities of professional hearing officers. Conduct annual observations and provide written feedback to their supervisor for Residence Life hearing officers.
Responsible for outreach and education regarding all Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) violations.
Conduct: TIX Conduct Lead
Serve as primary lead on all student related conduct with possible violation of TIX-related policies (D.19, C.27).
Serve on the TIX case management team, coordinating response and assignment of all cases related to these policies.
Coordinate training and compliance for all parties working with these cases (hearing officiers, advocates, etc) to ensure proper training and effectiveness.
Coordinate with Office of Legal Affairs for all conduct responses for hearings, mutual resolutions and related work. Work with OLA regarding training for new conduct officers regarding standards for this process.
Coordinate with TIX office for all hand offs of cases post investigation and/or when an interim action may be needed.
Campus Partners/Education/Outreach/Review:
Serve as the Assessment Coordinator, including planning and implementing assessment efforts that inform data driven decision making for the programs, services and conditions offered through the Center
Partner with Academic Affairs to design and market a Maxient driven academic dishonesty mechanism for the academic colleges based on D.18 and D.8 policies.
Conduct outreach programs and presentations to the campus community on topics related to the conduct process, positive conflict resolution, and group dynamics.
Deliver training, presentations and information-sharing with students, paraprofessional and other members of the Student Affairs and University community regarding Title IX cases, student behavior trends, conduct trends, FERPA issues and other legal precedents, as assigned
Produce reports and proposals, including but not limited to, progress reports, and annual statistical reports.
Attend Student Behavioral Consultation Team as back up to the director and respond to student behavioral issues, as assigned.
Represent the Center on university committees and at campus functions.
Assessment/Data Management:
Serve as a Level 4 administrator in the Center for Student Conduct software system (Maxient) to ensure all conduct records are maintained.
Serve as department assessment coordinator, designing and implementing measures and metrics of success. As Maxient SuperUser, develop reporting forms tailored by purpose and routed based on report content for emergent issues on campus (i.e. pandemic, bias related, accountability); deliver analytics and manage dashboards; connect with Maxient software administrators to problem solve issues such as report building; assist with proactive upgrades and communicate with users for integration into RIT processes.

Shared supervision of Residence Life staff with responsibilities of 10 hours per week in the Center for Student Conduct & Conflict Resolution
Participate in ongoing professional development, provide professional competency development for supervisees, and serve as a content expert and facilitator for training related to department work

Minimum Qualifications Education/Experience:
Masters degree in a related field
Minimum of 5 years of full-time professional experience with evidence of increasing levels of responsibilities for managing and administering the student conduct process.
Skills:
Established record of accomplishment in the student conduct process, support services, and supervision of professional staff.
Experience and evidence in employing a data-driven approach to generating measurable (quantitative and qualitative) outcomes and guiding others in the process.
Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals
Computer competence using software and enterprise systems appropriate for the complexities of the role and its functions
Effective verbal, written, and digital communication skills, including the ability to facilitate open discussions and ability write clear and concise reports.
Possess a deep understanding of a diverse student body and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and cross-cultural issues.
Recognized as an effective advocate who exhibits high ethical standards of conduct and confidentiality in dealing with various internal and external constituencies.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines.
Competent in American Sign Language or willing to develop such competence.
