The Placement Exchange Job Board

The Graduate Assistant position will assist the Residence Life Department by improving the residential experience through professional staff team support, project leadership, and administrative duties. This position will also be part of fostering a mission-driven residential experience while maintaining a high level of customer service.

• Support- for class-year Resident Director teams- take on low-level student cases, develop Resident Assistant care/support plan, and other duties as assigned 
• Leadership- Resident Assistant professional development, oversee Residence Hall Association, develop room selection marketing, all summer housing responsibilities 
• Administration- attend weekly business meeting, schedule 1-1s with supervisor, department committee assignment, oversee room change process, other duties as assigned 
• Event Management & Implementation- lead department events (end of school year, Christmas, etc.), host and support various hall events, lead class-year events, other events as assigned

• Demonstrated effective leadership and communication skills 
• Demonstrated strong commitment to the residential experience 
• Demonstrated effective programmatic enhancement strategies 
• Ability to organize and implement effective program 
• Prior student life experience is preferred 
• Demonstrated ability to work alongside of students in a cooperative and collaborative style Self-motivated and detail oriented

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in student life or student affairs.

• Bachelor’s degree required. 
• Must be accepted and admitted in a Bethel University graduate program of studies.

• $10,000 paid in twelve monthly installments over the period of the appointment. This income is taxable for federal and state withholding, but exempt from social security and Medicare withholding, provided that the GA maintains enrollment and is registered for at least half- time status. Income earned during terms where enrollment is less than half-time will be subject to social security, Medicare, federal, and state withholdings. 
• The GA will receive 100% tuition reduction during the period of appointment from any of the Bethel Seminary St Paul programs or Bethel University Graduate School master’s or doctoral programs. Coursework must fall at least partially within the period of appointment to be included. Cost of private instruction, tuition for non-credit special programs and workshops, books, laboratory fees, thesis or dissertation extension fees, activity fees, off-campus studies, and other special fees are not covered. This benefit does NOT apply to the BUILD Program, Play Therapy Certificate, M.A. Counseling, M.S. Physician Assistant, M.S. in Medical Science, Nurse-Midwifery or Post-Baccalaureate Nursing tuition, cost of private instruction, music lessons, tuition for non-credit special programs and workshops, fees associated with independent studies, activity and other special fees. Spouses and dependent children are not eligible for tuition benefit. 
• The GA will be provided with an on-campus apartment for the length of their appointment. The GA will be provided with a meal plan consisting of 10-meals a week during the school year. 
• The GA is not eligible for grants or scholarships which are Bethel-funded. The GA may be eligible for other financial aid and should contact the Office of Financial Aid for additional information. 
• The GA is not eligible for the Bethel University employee health insurance single coverage plan at no charge. 
• The GA is not eligible for any retirement, welfare or other employee benefits at Bethel University.
• 2 year appointment with option for 3rd year (dependent on academic program and job performance).
• Start date of August 1st.
