Job Summary

We are welcoming applications for an Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management! This position is responsible for collaborating with campus leadership to develop a comprehensive enrollment strategy for the University of Colorado Boulder. The Associate Vice Chancellor will strive to create and implement an integrated enrollment strategy that puts the student experience first and serves traditional and non-traditional undergraduate and graduate students. This position is responsible for ensuring that the programs and services provided by the Enrollment Management offices (Undergraduate Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, and the Office of the Bursar) support the enrollment strategy and student success initiatives on the campus.

The organizational structure includes an Assistant Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management, three Directors (Admissions, Bursar, and Financial Aid) and an Executive Assistant that comprise the Enrollment Management leadership unit. The general responsibilities of these areas include the recruitment, selection, admission, evaluation, and enrollment of a diverse population of students. The timely and accurate distribution and management of financial aid funds, the billing and collection of tuition and student debt payments, the maintenance and development of a highly sophisticated student information and CRM system(s), and the oversight of operational budgets associated with these three areas totaling $15M.

This position also serves as an advisor to campus administrators on issues involving enrollment planning and management (e.g. new enrollment markets and opportunities, new technologies that impact enrollment, the effects of tuition policy on recruitment, effective campus financial aid policies, and development of fund utilization strategies to ensure access, affordability, and student success). This role is also responsible for ensuring the overall accuracy, efficiency, and timely delivery of approximately $448 million in annual aid to over 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university regulations. The Associate Vice Chancellor works closely with the entire University community for the purpose of building effective relationships and communicating the regulatory requirements, strategies, and actions of all the Enrollment Management offices. This role will also serve as an active member and leader of the Strategic Resources and Support team and support the Executive Vice Chancellor/COO in collaborative decision-making to advance campus objectives.
The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.

Who We Are

CU Boulder is one of America's leading research universities and the flagship of the University of Colorado System (CU System). As a comprehensive public doctoral Research University, CU Boulder is a member of the Association of American Universities and is classified as an R1 University. The university has nine schools and colleges offering over 150 academic programs and enrolling 35,000 degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students.

From offering dozens of exciting programs in a range of academic fields, to serving as one of the world’s most dynamic research and innovation hubs, to working closely through hundreds of public outreach efforts with communities across Colorado and the world, we take pride in helping our students, faculty, staff, and partners turn new ideas into productive outcomes that change lives.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Provide strategic leadership for the enrollment management (EM) offices (Offices of the Bursar, Financial Aid, and Admissions). This position will lead a collaborative campus effort to develop comprehensive long-term enrollment strategies and goals and assist in the development of policies that will ensure access to the University. In this role, you will work closely with key campus partners (i.e. Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Finance and Business Strategy, Office of Diversity Equity and Community Engagement, Strategic Relations and Communication, Office of Human Resources, and campus administration) to ensure the development of diverse, student-centered programs and services that support the academic and student-life mission and goals of the campus. Working in close partnership with the Office of Data Analytics and the Office of Information Technology, this position will collaborate in the identification of and development of analytical tools used to evaluate the success of a complex set of enrollment strategies and can be used by a variety of audiences to benchmark the effectiveness of recruitment and retention strategies for the campus. Research and data will be used to analyze different programs and strategies to find opportunities to enhance student success and shape strategic enrollment direction. Based on analysis and feedback from the campus, this role will make recommendations and present options for future consideration.
  • Maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, parents, internal and external auditors, regulatory agencies, CU Advancement, CU Online, CU system offices and the public. This position will continually work to strengthen and advance strong collaborative relationships with deans and faculty in CU Boulder’s colleges/schools/programs and enhance these important partnerships as they support sustainable enrollment for individual colleges, schools, and programs. While staying up to date on current literature and research related to enrollment management issues, this position will develop and maintain excellent working relationships with state, federal, and private entities involved in policy formation, funding, administration, and regulation that impact the EM offices. This role will work closely with the University’s state and federal government relations officers to refine and communicate the campus position on federal and state policies related to financial aid and admissions policy. As new legislation is passed you will work with other campus offices to implement passed legislation.
  • This position serves as a Data Trustee of Student Administration Data (as designated by the Chancellor). This involves the management of policies and processes related to the availability and use of student data and working with the appropriate entities on campus to ensure the protection/security of student data. This role will represent EM offices in the implementation and application of new technologies (e.g., ERP, Student Information System, Document Imaging, CRM systems) at the policy level.
  • Develop and evaluate financial aid policies at the campus level to ensure regulatory compliance and a focus on meeting University goals. Is responsible for the preparation and defense of budgets and ensuring that the financial aid office meets all external reporting requirements related to the aid programs. This role has primary responsibility for compliance with federal, state, University, agency, and donor laws and regulations while ensuring that the annual external financial aid audit information is provided in a timely manner and issues are fully addressed.
  • Determine the broad goals and overall organizational structure for the EM offices. Create and demonstrate a culture where the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion are practiced, valued, and improved. Enhance the EM organization through inclusive excellence, continuous learning through strategic planning, shared governance, innovative practices, and the promotion of knowledge, development, and succession planning; provide resources for and establish expectations that managers and supervisors will act as stewards of employees’ professional development.
  • Ensure that the EM offices are in full compliance with all NCAA and Pac-12 rules and regulations that pertain to the administration of EM services (e.g. admitting, financial aid awarding) to student-athletes.
