JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Student Activities (DSA) at the University of Connecticut announces the opening of a full-time Assistant Director of Leadership and Organizational Development (Senior Student Services Program Administrator). This position works under the direction of the Director of Leadership and Organizational Development (LOD) and develops and delivers programs and services related to student involvement in the Leadership and Organizational Development area. This position supervises the Coordinator of LOD's Student Organization Support area and up to three Graduate Assistants, in addition to having responsibility for other programmatic offerings within the area, and works to collaboratively provide intentional and consistent programs, advisement, and support to all staff, students, and programs in the LOD area as needed.

Leadership and Organizational Development's mission is to provide intentional, challenging, and educational experiences that are inclusive, adaptive, and accessible. We aim to empower individuals and groups to elevate their leadership identities and strengthen active membership in their communities. LOD offers a full portfolio of high-quality leadership development programs and services – focusing on individual knowledge and character development, group/organizational leadership, and community-based leadership. Offering non- and for-credit offerings our programs are based in leadership theory and apply multiple instructional formats (e.g. classes, workshops, outdoor and experiential opportunities, and one-on-one advisement).

The Department of Student Activities offers a diverse and exciting portfolio of educational, social, and recreational programs for the entire campus. The related programs and services reach from the classroom and residence halls to the sidelines and beyond and engage students with unique programs and initiatives defined by their quality, creativity, and effectiveness.

Student Activities staff are a progressive team of individuals, dedicated to the profession, prideful of our University, and committed to excellence.

The Division of Student Affairs and staff in the Department of Student Activities are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion; competence in working with culturally and ethnically diverse populations; and awareness of how issues of difference, power, and privilege manifest in higher education environments. The ideal candidate promotes equity and inclusion by demonstrating and supporting an understanding, sensitivity, and appreciation for social justice, cultural humility, and inclusiveness.
