The Placement Exchange Job Board

The primary purpose of the Director of Academic Affairs is to support the Associate Dean for Academics and the graduate programs (directors, faculty, students) from across campus.

The Director of Academic Affairs will provide leadership in the areas of academic affairs, policy development and implementation, and ongoing management of projects with an academic focus. The Director will assist with supporting student needs with an academic lens in partnership with others in The Graduate School, including the Student Affairs team and the Admissions and Enrolled Student Services team. The Director sets standards, streamlines processes for the effective and timely provision of services to graduate programs, and works with others to enforce academic policies, and improve administrative procedures.

Working closely with the Associate Dean for Academics, the Director will provide support to graduate programs, including faculty, staff and students, for academic related inquiries – including but not limited to new degree requests, requests for substantial change to existing programs, credit bearing certificate administration from the idea stage through support and completion, routine academic petitions such as extensions of time and eligibility, and curricular/degree milestone development and tracking. This position will also develop collegial working liaisons with other divisions, departments, faculty, staff, and graduate students to serve as an academic policy resource across campus.

- A master's degree in higher education or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience in a university environment at a professional level with significant faculty engagement.
- Experience working specifically with graduate and/or professional level degree programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, organization, and communication skills; ability to set priorities and take initiative and manage multiple demands in a busy office setting.
- Experience working with diverse student populations; demonstrated ability to make sound judgment in dealing with administrative or student issues.
