Job Description:
Madison College is hiring a Senior Program Advisor-Diversity Programs responsible for leading the DEI efforts for the Center for Student Life. This position includes campus programming and leadership development focusing on students of color and other underrepresented students and providing learning and development opportunities to prepare all students to confidently engage with people with different backgrounds than their own in the classroom, workplace, and community. This position manages the Intercultural Exchange at the Truax campus, serves as the direct advisor to the United Common Ground student group, and collaborates with Student Life staff, student organization advisors, and other college offices in the formation of programming and leadership development activities for students.

This is a Full Time, exempt, 52 weeks per year position, with some remote work offered per college policy. Core office hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, M-F. Some evening hours for events would be required.

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:
1. Advise United Common Ground (UCG), which plans student-led programs and activities on social justice, intercultural, and diversity education topics.
a. Create and provide development training to UCG leaders and members
b. Assist students with the planning and implementation of events and activities throughout the Madison College District, in alignment with the organization's mission.
c. Facilitate continuous improvement strategies with the students, including use of data and assessment.
2. Manage the Intercultural Exchange
a. Hire, train, and supervise student employees and graduate student interns
b. Direct the work of student employees including, managing event reservations requests, supporting identity-based clubs, and general affinity groups.
c. Create and review policies and procedures in the Intercultural Exchange to create a space that is welcoming of all students.
3. Work in collaboration with students, faculty and staff to provide a wide range of culturally relevant programs that encourage knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to cultivate a more inclusive culture and sense of belonging for students
4. Facilitate district-wide workshops and trainings for students on issues of equity, diversity, global issues, and social justice using multiple modalities.
5. Tracks and assesses student engagement and success efforts for targeted student populations by collecting data and creating reports for college leadership to track student progress and success.
6. Assist in the development and implementation of the student involvement marketing plan and initiatives, to assist students, faculty, and staff in efforts aimed at increasing student involvement engagement and a sense of belonging.
7. Assist with “all-district” department programs, including but limited to WolfPack Welcome, Commencement, Back to School Bash, etc.
8. Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision and values.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
2. Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
3. Experience working with diverse populations on a college/university campus or with community-based or other education organizations along with a highly developed understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion education, issues, and practices in a higher education environment.
4. Experience with advising intercultural and identity-based groups, in the areas of program planning, marketing, and/or budgeting. Knowledge of group dynamics and advising special populations required. Ability to assess learning taking place through co-curricular involvement.
5. Experience with, or ability in developing, justifying, and managing budgets and applying for grants as they become available.
6. Demonstrated experience with research modalities, collecting and analyzing data and responding to the data received to institute change.
7. Ability to manage programing space and to, hire, train and supervise student staff.
8. Occasional travel to other campuses as well as occasional evenings and weekends are required in this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
and
Five (5) years of progressive work experience. Preference given to those applicants having professional experience at a college/university in student affairs, multicultural affairs or a comparable area.
