Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs or designee, the Director of the Center of Career Development will:
Provide innovative and strategic leadership, program development, and administration of a comprehensive career center serving all students with creative and forward-thinking direction with the vision to develop new programs and initiatives that address evolving employment and educational trends and needs and maintain a student-centeredness.
Lead, motivate, and provide supervision and development of staff, and serve as an advocate for the needs of the Center, staff, and students.
Build cross-functional expertise among staff and create a synergistic team that is equipped to meet the goals of the Center, the College, and the University.
Strategize with internal colleagues and external partners in establishing processes to leverage workforce opportunities for students in credit and non-credit courses and certificate programs.
Participate in efforts across the college develop processes to maximize opportunities for students with stackable credentials, credit for prior learning, and competency badging.
Enhance the Center for Career Development brand, visibility, and value to internal and external constituents, including but not limited to industries, organizations, non-profits, governmental, and business sectors.
Support student success and use best practices with regards to the operation of a comprehensive career services office within college environment including enhancing career exploration, preparation, and placement.
Develop and monitor the department's long-range strategic plan, using best practices and a strong commitment to internal and external data collection, analysis, and ongoing program evaluation to meet the college???s goals.
Responsible for building rapport and collaborations with multiple constituencies, specifically students, faculty, alumni, staff, employers, and others in the college and workforce setting.
Develop corporate/employer relations strategies that expand employer involvement with the college and the recruitment of students.
Foster an understanding of the skills and competencies needed for career success in a global economy.
Facilitate continuous improvement of services and resources to ensure the Center remains responsive to student career development needs relative to employment trends, emerging job markets, and changes in education that impact employers, students, and alumni.
Utilize technology and social media to expand the current and evolving resources and services available for students, staff, and employers.
Participate on college and university-wide committees as assigned.
Provide assistance with major college-wide events such as commencement, orientation, registration, and honors convocation.
Participate in campus-wide student outreach and support activities.
Work schedule may include some evenings and weekends.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in related field (Counseling, Psychology, Higher Education Administration, or related program) is preferred. Experience in a Higher Education setting preferred.
Significant experience supervising professional staff and leading a department, specifically in higher education.
Outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills, marketing acumen, and the capacity to convey the distinctive value of the college, our students, and academic and career services programs to multiple stakeholders in a dynamic and compelling manner.
Certification in career related assessment tools (i.e. MBTI) desired.
Experience in a higher education setting preferred and possess an understanding of the cultural, social, and educational needs of a multi-ethnic campus community.
The ability to provide outstanding customer service in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
Proficiency in career related software and Microsoft Office to include spreadsheets, database, and reporting tools.
COMPENSATION
$100,329 - $111,560
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
