Job Description:

  • Leads the strategic direction for University-wide prevention education, programming, and resources on harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct.

  • Lead the creation and implementation of a strategic University-wide education and outreach plan for sexual misconduct prevention, working with UChicago CARES and the Associate Provost for EOP as thought partners and collaborators.

  • Build partnerships with academic divisions, schools, and units to provide consultation on sexual and relationship violence prevention strategies and to create a 'train the trainer' model to embed a prevention framework within units and develop comprehensive educational prevention programming (in the form of presentations, workshops, roundtables, speaker events and training sessions) for the University community.

  • Build campus partnerships and local and national community partnerships to develop culturally responsive educational programming and facilitate community outreach. Utilize data, such as the university climate surveys, to identify population specific needs and design relevant programming with the goal of reducing barriers and increasing access to support and resources, and tailoring population specific prevention initiatives.

  • Lead the Universityâ™s participation in local and national prevention initiatives, such as the National Academies for Science, Engineering, and Medicineâ™s (NASEM) Action Collaborative on the Prevention of Sexual Misconduct in Higher Education. The Director will have primary responsibility for implementing the community engagement plan with the NASEM Action Collaborative.

  • Lead Resources for Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) Programming Center and supervising the RSVP program staff as they oversee the programâ™s activities, workshops, campaigns, and awareness events.

  • Serves as one of the lead facilitators of the Bias Education and Support Team (BEST) by taking a leadership role in helping to develop educational workshops on topics related to bias and the intersections of bias related to race, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, among other identities.

  • Provide leadership to the annual training requirement on sexual misconduct for the campus community, in partnership with the Associate Provost for Equal Opportunity Programs, and supervise the Assistant Director on implementation. This includes the creation and delivery of new student orientation programming and resource fairs, in conjunction with UChicago CARES leadership, the Associate Dean of Students for Disciplinary Affairs and the College Programming Office.

  • Supervise Assistant Director in the implementation of the annual training on sexual misconduct awareness and prevention, and the development and implementation of educational workshops and resources, including RSVP.

  • Chair the Office of the Provost Campus Partner Task Force on Sexual Misconduct and will work in collaboration with the Office of the Provost Student Advisory Board on Sexual Misconduct.

  • Lead the development and publication of resources (e.g., pamphlets, posters, newsletters, other print materials, website content, videos, and multi-media content) to faculty, staff, and students to increase awareness of prevention initiatives, University resources, reporting and complaint resolution processes, as well as increasing awareness of topics related to UChicago CARES, in coordination with UChicago CARES leadership team.

  • Provide support and resources, including safety planning, to members of the campus community, upon referral and as needed in coordination with UChicago CARES leadership team.

  • Develop and facilitate individualized education programs for members of the campus community upon request, including as referrals in disciplinary or alternative resolution processes, on topics such as consent, inter-personal violence, the role of alcohol, sexually harassing behaviors, etc.

  • Lead assessments of the effectiveness of existing training programs for sexual misconduct as well as other forms of harassment and discrimination and collaborate with UChicago CARES and campus partners to make recommendations for expanding existing programming and implementing new programs and campaigns.

  • Lead and administer evaluations of programming and education efforts. Regularly evaluate feedback from participants and community members and develop an assessment framework.

  • Maintain complete records of all prevention, education, and outreach efforts related to sexual misconduct throughout campus. Create annual reports of outreach and education efforts, as part of UChicago CARES annual report.

  • Collaborates with all members of the EOP team to create and maintain a holistic approach to prevention, education, support, and response that support all members of the campus community, consistent with the Universityâ™s compliance efforts related to non-discrimination. 

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Students in the University for Student Affairs and the Assistant Provost/Executive Director of the Center for Identity + Inclusion on the Bias Education and Support Team (BEST).

  • Participate in conferences, Ivy Plus annual meetings and monthly calls, workshops, and trainings on- and off-campus to stay current in the field and connected to campus partners.

  • Serve on related committees as requested.

  • Leads and provides expertise in the implementation of compliance activities designated by the University's strategic plans. Monitors University compliance with regulations and laws.

  • Leads teams to develop and administer policies related to affirmative action, non-discriminatory practices for persons with disabilities, and unlawful harassment or sexual misconduct.

  • Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Masterâ™s degree in a related field.

Experience:

  • Relevant experience in sexual misconduct prevention and program oversight.

  • Experience developing and/or delivering training regarding sexual assault, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.

Preferred Competencies

  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Leadership, program management, and subject matter expertise.

  • Handle a workload that can be unpredictable and reflective of an academic calendar cycle.

  • Demonstrated teamwork skills to lead and collaborate with a wide range of constituents.

  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously in an intense and fast-paced environment, set priorities and meet deadlines; knowledge of relevant laws in a higher education setting (e.g., Title IX, VAWA/Campus SaVE, FERPA, Clery).

  • Coordinate and work with others; ability to effectively communicate and work consultatively with faculty and administrators at all levels within the University.
