Responsibilities The Manager of Admissions, Student Services and Outreachwill be the NSHL program content expert for the School of Nursing and will independently oversee and provide strategic direction for the outreach, admissions, and student affairs operations for current and future NSHL academic programs. This position is instrumental in the growth of the Nursing Science and Health-Care Leadership graduate program and its continued success. The incumbent will develop and implement short-term and long-term tactics to ensure that strategic plan objectives are met through all activities related to admissions, student services and outreach. The incumbent will lead the Admissions and Student Services team of the Education Team managing outreach and recruitment, student admissions, new student orientation, advising, resource referral, dissemination of financial support and scholarship information, student record keeping (health clearance, personal info, etc.), student registration/enrollment management, progressions, student events, etc. A successful candidate will also have expertise on policies and procedures to resolve student services-related issues on a wide range of academic issues. Serve as the primary administrative leader of the NSHL graduate programs, promoting quality improvement at all levels and building effective systems for transparent communication and collaboration. Develop and implement policies and procedures to determine best practices for graduate program administration at the School of Nursing in conjunction with Associate Dean for Academics.
In coordination with Recruitment, Admissions, and Fellowship Committee Chair, develop and manage all of the NSHL administrative structures and procedures to support graduate program admissions processes, including application submission, application review, candidate interviews, selection process, notification process and the applicant database. Provide research, analysis and recommended best practices in graduate nursing education for admission processes including application review, on-site applicant information sessions and applicant selection.
In collaboration with education team leadership, conceive strategies, deliver innovations, and exercise delegated authority to ensure optimal office operations, consistent with advancements at other UC campuses. Set goals and policies for student affairs programs in the School of Nursing in conjunction with Associate Dean for Academics.
Create and manage implementation of the NSHL program policy and procedures; oversee and execute all University policy and procedures relevant to UC Davis student affairs programs and activities.
Develop methods to assess admissions and student affairs effectiveness and implement ongoing quality review process.
Develop, implement, and update policies and procedures to provide guidance to student affairs staff for sufficient record keeping ensuring graduate program accountability and compliance with federal regulations and guidelines, State law, and university policies, in order to maintain current program accreditation.
Required Qualifications:
Supervisory and/or leadership experience to manage and train other staff members and student workers in a team-oriented workplace.
Extensive experience and knowledge in student affairs to develop, implement and manage Nursing Science and Health Care Leadership graduate degree programs.
Demonstrated skills to think both strategically and tactically to provide leadership to achieve the vision of the school of nursing.
Demonstrated professional ability to reprioritize workload and perform in a highly visible and high-stakes dynamic environment, for the growth and sustainability of academic programs for the School of Nursing.
Demonstrated independent decision making skills to work with ambiguities where clear guidelines are not present.
Demonstrated skills to identify issues, provide recommendations referrals, and seek resources to develop solutions.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff and students; respond to questions and concerns; and comprehend the specialized needs of students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Excellent organizational skills to work under frequent interruptions; to independently establish priorities, anticipate job requirements, organize workflow to work effectively to achieve timely progress on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Extensive analytical skills to interpret student data to support recommendations.
Ability to obtain, correlate and develop statistical reports from a variety of sources; skills to retrieve and assemble information for preparation.
Excellent oral and written skills to communicate with faculty, staff, students and the public. Ability to prepare agendas, take minutes and maintain files.
Public speaking skills and ability to develop and deliver engaging presentations for prospective applicants.
Ability to function well and with a great deal of flexibility in a fast-pace working environment; strong initiative and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Ability to work with and maintain confidentially of student information and materials.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge and experience to interpret and advise effectively on policies, procedures and requirements regarding UC Davis graduate education and the NSHL program, UC Davis Office of Graduate Studies, Graduate Council, Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid Office and the University of California.
Demonstrated ability to develop programmatic partnerships with a variety of academic and administrative departments, student organizations, and community groups throughout the Sacramento and Davis campuses.
Advanced computer skills to select and utilize various software programs such as word-processing, spreadsheets, customer relationship management and database management programs. Experience using UC Davis systems: Banner, Slate preferred. Experience with Salesforce preferred.
Knowledge and commitment to UC Affirmative Action policies and procedures, specifically related to recruitment & retention of graduate students from traditionally under-represented groups.
