Overview
This role is a key member of the Department of Athletics, Intramurals and Recreation and is responsible for the coordination of the AVPâ™s strategic planning initiatives, assessment of student outcomes and student athlete development for the unit. The candidate will manage and advise the AVP and the senior administrative team on recommendations that promote and ensure efficiency and effectiveness optimizing the use of available resources. Oversight for all ongoing projects supporting the AVPâ™s agenda to ensure that all are effectively moving according to planned objectives and established milestones and measurement criteria. Serve as a liaison within offices within the Division of Student Affairs and the University to ensure coordination and prioritization of activities that are necessary to move the departmentâ™s strategic plan forward. Manage student athlete community service and engagement partnerships, support onboarding training for students and staff and partner with campus counterparts to promote GIDBEA programming for students and staff.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Master's Degree Business or Sports Management related program preferred.
Required Experience: 5+ years progressively responsible experience with academic or athletics administration or an equivalent combination of education or experience. Must include experience with the student employment, managing office operations and staff, planning and implementing special events and activities, and collecting and analyzing data. Experience working across an international platform. Must include experience providing high levels of customer service.
Preferred Experience: 5+ years Direct engagement with student-athletes. Data analysis skills.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to develop, implement and interpret policies and procedures. Excellent organization and problem-solving skills. Strong research, writing, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing to individuals at all levels. Strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications. Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must be knowledgeable in tech and highly organized. The ability to maintain a calm demeanor in order to facilitate an office environment of quiet organization is essential. Must possess the ability to think outside of the box to problem solve efficiently with haste and discretion. Proven ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Must be able to work in a team environment and interact well with the administrative team. Working collaboratively on deadline driven tasks is key to this position. Working knowledge of athletic facility operations. The Assistant Director must be able to interpret situations quickly and be able to respond to high level and sensitive information quickly on behalf of the lead team principals.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: NCAA Division III Rules and Regulations, Experience with working closely with collegiate student-athletes. Knowledge or experience with RISE and assessment tools and best practices for the student athlete experience.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $84,000.00 to USD $104,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
