Job Summary: | The Lead Custodian is a member of the Fluno Center Hotel and Conference Center team. Main duties include setting up as well as cleaning conference rooms, cleaning building common areas, assisting with radio calls, and training staff members. Work is performed under the guidance of a Housekeeping Supervisor. |
Responsibilities: | Cleans institutional facilities, removes waste and recycling, and monitors building security to ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas. Leads the custodial work of others and responds to custodial emergencies. - 25% Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
- 10% Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
- 15% Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
- 5% Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
- 10% Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
- 10% Schedules, monitors, and communicates with staff and assists with basic training
- 5% Responds to facility emergency and hazardous situations, and escalates incidents according to established policies and procedures
- 15% Moves and sets furniture to specific event plans, arranges and cleans conference rooms during breaks, and cleans and secures meeting rooms for the next day.
- 5% Assists with guest room housekeeping duties.

Additional Information: | The Wisconsin Union operates from several buildings on the UW-Madison campus including Memorial Union, Union South, Fluno Center, Pyle Center, University Club, Red Gym, and the Student Activity Center. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $60 million dollars.
