Job Description:
This position will manage events taking place in venues overseen by Conference and Event Services. They will provide oversight to reservations for meeting rooms and special events spaces within Baker Center as well as outdoor reservable spaces. They will provide event planning support to clients both internal and external to the university as well as communicate information to potential and actual guests (including members of the University and Athens communities, student organizations, academic and administrative departments, community organizations, businesses, prospective students and their families, tourists, and guests of the University). This FTE supervises students and provides training and mentoring to staff.
Oversee all reservations and space management within Baker University Center, Galbreath Chapel, Walter Hall Rotunda, and Memorial Auditorium, and some select facilities across campus.
Assist in event planning support to student organizations, university departments and external clients.
Supervise student staff in areas such as event support, reservations and logistical support.
Supervise the implementation of all meetings, reservations, and special events in Baker University Center, Galbreath Chapel, Walter Hall Rotunda, and Memorial Auditorium and select additional venues.
Assist the office personnel in managing student staff prioritizing guest services goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of 1 year of experience in conference or event planning, management, and execution or related.
- Exceptional organizational skills required. - Must be able to oversee complex projects and schedules, maintain deadlines, work within budgets, with the ability to set priorities and manage several projects simultaneously required. - Ability to successfully manage a workload that balances long-range planning with the unanticipated daily demands of Event Services required. - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to synthesize and accurately present relevant information required. - Demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree - Knowledge of higher education institutional setting preferred. - Competent computer skills, including knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheet programs, and familiarity with facility management and systems software preferred. - Experience working closely with faculty, students, staff, artists, and community members preferred.

Advertised Salary:
The target hiring range for this position is $44,592 – $51,838. Salary is commensurate with education and experience, while also considering internal equity.
