Job Overview

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in the School of Nursing (SON), this position works closely with dedicated faculty and staff from admissions, academic affairs, events, marketing, compliance and data management. They comprise a dynamic Student Affairs team that is passionate and committed to facilitating student success in a values-based, rigorous, and interdisciplinary educational environment. Anchored in the Jesuit value of Cura Personalis, the Assistant Dean facilitates the holistic learning and growth of their nursing students throughout their time on the Hilltop.

Work Interactions

The Assistant Dean serves as a departmental liaison to the pre-licensure programs. S/he serves as the academic advising dean to undergraduate and graduate students in that department. In addition to the academic departmental responsibilities, this position serves as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs' representative for multiple campus wide committee initiatives, such as: Office of Global Education, Premedical Studies & Early Assurance Program, Center for Multicultural Affairs, Athletics, Sophomore Year Experience, Parents' Weekend, New Student Orientation, Senior Class programming, Registrar's Office, and Career Services. The Assistant Dean position manages multiple internal school processes which may include: presiding over/coordinating academic appeals; editing and updating bulletins, handbooks, and publications; DegreeWorks coordination; webpage enhancements; Colloquium administration and coordination; academic counsel advisement; peer advising coordination; minority health initiative committee advisement; and Commencement planning and communication. The scope of this position includes working with faculty, fellow academic affairs professional staff, and both prospective and enrolled students.

Requirements and Qualifications

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience required. Master's degree preferred. Direct experience advising college students, ideally in nursing or a health-related field. Preferred candidates will have a Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field and a minimum of three years full-time advising experience. Ideal candidates possess familiarity with various data management systems, including DegreeWorks, Banner, Cognos, and Salesforce CRM. All candidates must demonstrate strong organizational skills and precise attention to detail. Candidates must also possess the ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and respond to ever-changing environments comprised of a diverse group of stakeholders.
