This position is located in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD). This position works closely with advisors, faculty, and students assisting with applications, admissions, registration, student records, and degree clearance. The person in this position will be responsible for applications, student records, and progress for the undergraduate minor programs and DirecTrack to Teaching. This position also assists in coordinating and attends orientation and recruitment events.
This is a 12-month continuing, Labor Represented position and reports to the Department Administrator. This position is represented by the AFSCME Union, Local 3800. The hours are M-F, 8:00-4:30. Thework location is on the Minneapolis campus. The minimum starting pay for this position is $20.08/hour.

Job Responsibilities
Advising Support Coordination (50%)
Track, communicate with, and troubleshoot issues related to degree completion, and collaborate with M.Ed. advisers about solutions for students; positively impact the number of students completing degrees
Regularly analyze, approve, and troubleshoot degree clearance procedures in support of all M.Ed. and certificate students
In consultation with departmental advisers, engage in continuous improvements for advising support functions, tracking systems, communications, recruitment events, and data maintenance
Identify needed changes and edit student resource website content for M.Ed. and certificate programs in consultation with departmental advisers and graduate program coordinator
Use GPAS, APAS, PeopleSoft, APLUS, Slate, and other electronic systems
Support advisers as they review registrations for initial licensure students and monitor student records to verify accurate course registration and satisfactory degree progress
Assist students and advisers with non-degree registration processes
Respond to student inquiries about courses, registration, and grades
Support three minors and DirecTrack to Teaching as the first point of contact for minor advisors and faculty advising those programs; support Advanced Licensure Program students
Troubleshoot student requests for transfer credits, readmission, leave of absence, and graduate registration exceptions for M.Ed. and certificate students
Work with three advisers and the graduate program coordinator to ensure accurate and consistent information about degree requirements and completion between PCAS, APAS, and GPAS systems
Ensure confidentiality of student information at all times
Admissions and Recruitment Support (30%)
Oversee admissions tracking and reporting for all C&I M.Ed. and certificate programs through Slate; track and guide applicants through multiple application stages, communicate with faculty, ensure timely review of applicants, independently troubleshoot issues, and communicate with students regarding needed materials
Assist in training front desk staff on Slate and application processing
Coordinate recruitment activities for all C&I M.Ed., DirecTrack and undergraduate Elementary Education programs
In collaboration with academic advisors, plan and implement Orientation programming
Coordinate department supplies for recruiting and orientation events annually
Monitor and report on recruiting activities and effectiveness
Academic Administrative Support (20%)
Use PeopleSoft, CCS, ASTRA, and scheduling-related electronic systems
Registration coordination for M.Ed., undergraduate, and non-degree
Serve as point person for student-related issues in PeopleSoft (permission numbers, prerequisites, non-degree enrollment, etc.)
Track waitlists and provide registration permission to students
Assist scheduling coordinator to organize and enter C&I course information (500+ course sections annually) by University deadlines under the supervision of the Department’s Curriculum Manager
Proof One Stop against scheduling database each term and reconcile discrepancies; alert Program Area Coordinators and departmental partners about issues and missing information.
Coordinate with the Office of Classroom Management and department room scheduler to schedule classrooms as needed for all departmental courses; serve as backup for daily room scheduling needs
Work with instructors to request course cancellations, update One Stop and department scheduling database
Represent department in college and university networks and committees
Required
High school diploma/GED and four years operations and/or student support experience
Training/education may be substituted for the years of experience
Evidence of effective communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a collaborative and cooperative team setting
Technological competence, such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps, related to student support services, course scheduling, and data organization
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with and support peoples across all markers of diversity
Preferred

Experience in an education setting creating and implementing administrative support services
Ability to prioritize requests and tasks from multiple stakeholders
Student services support experience particularly related to admissions, degree completion, and registration
