University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) is looking to hire a Director of Residential Life. The Director of Residence Life serves as an integral member of the Student Affairs team responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive program of services that support a positive living and learning experience for students living in the residence halls. Additionally, the Director will also support and execute the summer camps and conference program in conjunction with a third party conference administrator, Facilities, and the Marketing department’s leadership. The Director lives on campus and leads a team of Resident Assistants and coordinates the residential responsibilities of the Student Activities Coordinator to enhance the social, cultural and educational development of all residents.
The Director is provided with an on-campus apartment and a meal plan to provide high visibility and participation within the campus residential community while serving as an on-call staff member.
This position works closely with the Student Financial Aid Office, the Student Senate, the Business Office, the Learning Center, Athletics, Facilities Management, the Administrative Services Office, and the faculty in matters pertaining to resident students.
Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the salary for this full time position is $42,643 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. The UMS is a recipient of the Wellness Councils of America’s Well Workplace Award and offers wellness programs.
Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field by start date.
Experience in educational settings with some combination of the following: residence life, student life and programming.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills. Must demonstrate and utilize a high level of creativity, innovation, and project management skills. Experience in higher education, residence life, and leadership develop programs preferred. Must understand the needs of contemporary college students and develop programs and services to meet these needs and positively impact retention efforts.
