Position Summary: This is a full-time staff position within the Student Life Department (Student Affairs Division) that is responsible for promoting holistic student growth and success through helping develop student clubs, organizations, and Greek Life and through fostering increased student engagement around campus through discipleship and student-empowered involvement for all members of the HCU community.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide oversight for student clubs, organizations, and Greek Life to foster student engagement and discipleship
Develop and support student organization leaders (specifically organization presidents) in creating meaningful integrations of discipleship and spiritual formation in their organizations
Manage and enforce procedures and policies associated with student clubs, organizations, and Greek Life including risk management training, program planning, recruitment, and student leadership development
Serve as the University Greek Life Advisor for all Greek organizations and maintain policy and procedures for all Greek Life participants (Panhellenic, Pan-Hellenic, Interfraternity Council, etc.)
Assist with building connections with student clubs, organizations, and Greek Life and University departments, specifically through student organization presidents and faculty/staff advisors
Develop and maintain training programs and on-going support for faculty/staff advisors of student clubs, organizations, and Greek Life
Assist with planning and implementing Student Life signature events: Welcome Days, Family Weekend, Homecoming, etc.
Recruit, hire, supervise, and disciple student leadership groups, specifically the Greek honor society (Order of Omega), Student Programming Board, Student Involvement Intern
Represent Student Life at University events
Work in collaboration with Student Affairs Division goals and initiatives to assess, plan, and promote campus wide engagement, student success, retention/persistence, and graduation.
Assist with maintaining Student Life social media and marketing
Participate in the life of the campus through partnering with other Student Affairs and University departments such as Residence Life, Student Success, Academic Affairs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college is required. A Master’s degree in Higher Education or other related fields is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
A comprehensive understanding of student involvement and the role student engagement has in promoting student success
Commitment to the mission of Houston Christian University
Available for night and weekend programming
Exhibit an active Christian faith
