Job Summary
The Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Success and Equity Innovation (SSEI) is reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (VCSA) and will have oversight of a portfolio of complex and critical student services departments which serve students from orientation to graduation. The AVC will oversee an annual budget of $21M consisting of campus based- fees, federal and state grants, state funded initiatives, and auxiliaries. MGR234
This position serves as a member of the Vice Chancellor's Council with responsibility for the strategic advancement of the Division's initiatives, with a focused expertise on advancing a broad spectrum of departments, initiatives, task forces, committees, and workgroups focused on equitable student success outcomes, supporting UC Davis in meeting the UC 2030 goals and California Compact Goals which provide directives on mitigating gaps in retention and graduation amongst first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students and for students with disabilities. This position will serve as an authority on best practices related to equitable student success, best practices on retention, persistence and graduation support, and accessibility.
This position provides stewardship and management for all aspects of services and programs that provide students with the necessary college capital, transition and navigational skills, community building, academic accommodations, and learning support to succeed at UC Davis. This includes departments such as Orientation, First-Year Experience, New Academic Student Services, Academic Assistance and Tutoring Centers, Office of Educational Opportunity and Enrichment Services (Guardian Scholars Program, Educational Opportunity Program, Special Transitional Enrichment Program, TRiO Scholars Program, Success Coaching and Learning Strategies, Veterans Success Center, First-Year Aggie Connections, Underground Scholars Program, Veterans Success Center) Student Disability Center, and the Four Academic Retention Initiatives (Strategic African American Retention Initiative, Strategic Asian and Pacific Islander Retention Initiative, Strategic Chicanx/Latinx Retention Initiative, Strategic Native American Retention Initiative).
This position is a key strategic partner to the Vice Chancellor and other student affairs senior leaders. This position will participate as a member of the senior leadership team and the Vice Chancellor's Council, supporting the overall management of Student Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree, PhD, Ed.D. or other advanced degree required
10 years in higher education working in a shared governance model, with in-depth experience in retention, student success, and/or accessibility efforts, plus a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in leadership roles.
Experience in the organizational development and management of complex student services organizations.
Expert experience in serving non-traditional students and engaging with first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented communities effectively.
Demonstrated skills to apply strategic planning principles, including change management and skills to design and facilitate dynamic organizational change to meet the evolving needs of the campus and systemwide and state objectives.
Demonstrated skill to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences and varied constituencies to solicit constructive input and cultivate constructive collaborations among multiple campus departments and community groups.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge and experience setting scalable strategies to achieve student success outcomes using data-driven approaches to measurably improve unit effectiveness. Knowledge of national trends in accessibility and student success.
Advanced knowledge and expertise with managing and leading programs in support of students with disabilities or accessibility accommodations. High level of proficiency in educational accessibility oversight, student accommodations, ADA compliance and other topics for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Demonstrated capacity for leading initiatives that advance equitable outcomes, diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Demonstrated skills to lead campus-wide efforts affecting the retention, persistence, and graduation of first-generation, low-income, underrepresented minority students and students with disabilities.
Demonstrated skills around use of effective assessment tools and ability to forecast student needs, and to develop, implement and evaluate programs that address these needs campus-wide.
Demonstrated expert leadership abilities to establish department goals, and to motivate and influence others to achieve.
