Job Description Summary
The University of Pennsylvania is an extraordinary collegiate community with the 13 College Houses at the center of the undergraduate experience. The Houses bring together students, faculty, and staff to form vibrant residential communities within the larger context of a vast, urban campus. Reporting to the Senior Director for Academic and Residential Programs in College Houses & Academic Services (CHAS), the Director for Training and Assessment oversees training and assessment elements for a dynamic living and learning College House system. The Director plays a critical role in developing the 200+ student residential staff, working with the Senior Director in designing, planning, and executing training including, but not limited to, Fall Training in August and Winter Training in January. The Director will be responsible for overseeing assessment efforts to support the services and programs of CHAS and determine the effectiveness of CHAS' efforts. By leading and developing a comprehensive assessment program to support CHAS' mission and strategic initiatives and priorities, the Director has the opportunity to shape the experience of 6000+ Penn students living within the 13 College Houses.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

• Partner with the Senior Director to oversee training of the 200+ student staff, including, but not limited to, Fall Training in August and Winter Training in January.
• Plans, organizes, and coordinates strategic assessment programs, projects, and activities.
• Supports continuous program assessment (curricular and co-curricular activities) and improvement of student learning through consultation, mentoring, and hands-on training.
• Designs, directs, and supports academic and administrative program reviews and related activities that demonstrate institutional effectiveness.
• Assist the Senior Director of Housing Operations in supporting the College Houses, including stepping in to support a College House if there is a house director vacancy.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A track record of experience in residential life/housing administration is required.

A master's in student affairs administration, higher education, or relevant field is preferred. Expertise in assessment, data analysis, and educational outcomes. Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse university community members, including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and accreditors. Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to connect to the institutional strategy while displaying attention to detail. Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated creative solutions. Knowledge of best practices related to living and learning programs and services designed to promote student success; familiarity with assessment activities and data-driven decision-making; and an ability to enthusiastically support the University of Pennsylvania's commitment to enhance campus culture and the student experience will also be an important consideration.
