Position Information:The Office of TRIO Programs provides pre-college programs that aim to prepare and motivate high school students to pursue a higher education. The TRIO Programs are federally funded through 5-year grants from the U.S. Department of Education. Under general supervision of the Educational Talent Search Assistant Director, the High School Coordinator (HSC) travels to target high schools to meet with participants. In addition, the HSC assists in the planning and coordination of events such as field trips, College and Financial Aid workshops, and the summer program. The HSC will be in charge of initiating the recruitment, selecting, training and overseeing High School Mentors (Tutors) and/or Student Office Assistants. In addition, the HSC will assist with creating all High School Transcript Evaluations. Lastly, the HSC will have an integral part assisting the Assistant Director with the recruitment of all program participants. The Talent Search grant is currently in year 3 of 5.
The salary range for the Educational Talent Search High School Coordinator position is $24.71 - $41.67 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $28.95. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. Knowledge and understanding of K-14 education. Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives. Experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged and academically at-risk students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers. Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts. Thorough knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to communicate clearly in Spanish. Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with diplomacy and tact. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, plan, and help coordinate educational programs that meet specific needs for program participants, per federal grant objectives.
