Position Information: The Resident Director (RD) is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position and serves as a member of the Residence Life Professional team. The RD is responsible for resident orientation to community living; resident counseling; policy enforcement and adjudication; day and night on-site crisis response; student programming; student staff recruitment, selection, training and evaluation; housing management, and special projects. The RD provides a variety of support services to the residential students and assists with the management of the housing program. The residential facilities include residence halls, apartments, and family housing.
Please Note: This is a four (4) year contract appointment with the possibility to be extended for one (1) additional year for a maximum total of five (5) years. Additionally, this position has multiple openings.
The salary range for the Resident Director position is $54,200 - $93,200 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $55,000 annually. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California Vaccination Program Policy.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Master's degree. Preferred

4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
Minimum Requirements
Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Knowledge of student conduct administration best practices and ability to independently process and adjudicate student conduct cases.
Knowledge, skills & abilities to manage crisis and emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Knowledge of University processes and procedures.
Demonstrated understanding of student development theories and practices.
