Position Information:The Upward Bound Rialto/Colton-Join (RCJ) Assistant Director (AD) is responsible for the management and implementation of all aspects of the Upward Bound Federal Grant Program Rialto/Colton-Joint. The AD will provide pre-college services to at least 60 participant and their parents at three high schools in San Bernardo County. Responsibilities includes conceptualization, development and implementation of program services described in grant objectives. The AD will provide advising, supervision and instruction to high school student participants to help them develop academic skills which will enable them to be admitted and successfully graduate from a 4-year university. The AD will be responsible for the collection of information and tracking of program services provided to participants for the annual performance report. Will provide assistance to the Director in making decisions regarding allocations of funds for implementation of grant objectives. This is a grant funded position and it is in year 1 of 5 of the current grant and may be extended based on funding and project needs.
The salary range for the Assistant Director Upward Bound RCJ position is $54,200 - $93,200 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $57,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Minimum Requirements
Strong knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population. Strong knowledge of up-to-date information on K-12 and higher education policies and issues. Ability to assess their impact on program strategies. Knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives. Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low-income, first generation urban youth. Ability to establish and maintains cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts. Strong knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements. Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. Strong communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Significant experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish Ability to evaluate academic documents, including high school transcripts, state testing scores, progress reports, and academic skill assessments. Knowledge and experience in budget forecasting, maintaining cost effectiveness to implement grant budget and implementing TRIO Regulations.
