Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
The School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, and Business Law one of three schools in the College of Business, invites applicants for a 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor position in Computer Information Systems (CIS) beginning in August 2025. The successful candidate will bring areas of teaching and research that complement and integrate with those of existing faculty. Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, residential and/or distance undergraduate classes in the core enterprise information systems course and the Cybersecurity program.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the College's mission of providing students with the skills needed to address the challenges of contemporary business. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester with both face-to-face and online formats per semester, scholarship, advising, and service activities as designed by the school director. Moreover, although faculty are typically assigned to teach 2 or 3 days per week, teaching and service duties may require a campus presence on non-teaching days. The ability to maintain an active research resulting in publication in peer reviewed journals is required. Candidates should have a strong record or show strong promise to contribute to the intellectual and practical lives of students and other stakeholders of the School, College, University, and business community. The successful candidates must meet the standards for qualification per the College's Policy on Classification of Qualified Faculty. The AACSB requirements for academic qualification mandate a minimum level of relevant research and publication in order to remain current in the field of teaching.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position: Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Computer Information systems or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution is required. ABD candidates considered if the degree is completed by July 1, 2025.
Preference will be given to those with a strong record or potential for impactful research and contribution to the student and academic academic community.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in teaching and curriculum development in Cybersecurity.
Professional certifications related to Cybersecurity are advantageous.
