Position Summary:
Primary responsibility for law school budget and finance matters that involve law school student groups, including student journals, competition teams, the Student Bar Association (SBA), and SBA-funded groups. Manage the processing of all financial and related transactions for student organizations, including contracting with vendors, creation of purchase orders, payment of invoices, and expense reimbursements.
Position Responsibilities:
Work with officers of the Student Bar Association (SBA) to create and review a student organization budget of approximately $120k per year. Establish and monitor policies and procedures for all SBA expenditures.
Approve the budgets and monitor expenditures for five student journals and three student competition teams. Meet regularly with Journal and Team Editors. Review policies as needed and produce budget reports for Journal activities, including publication of journals, ordering supplies and equipment, and hosting symposia and student social events (working closely with Department of Special Events).
Manage all budget-related aspects of student organization member travel to competitions and conferences, including travel and hotel reservations, event registration fees, per diem allowances, and expense reimbursements.
Oversee all financial aspects of on-campus student competitions and symposia, including budgets, catering costs, honoraria, and speaker travel and expense reimbursement.
Process all student organization related transactions, including creation of contracts, creation of purchase orders, and payment of vendor invoices.
Work with students, administrative departments, and faculty to communicate and execute policies for the hiring, onboarding, and payment of student research assistants and summer stipend recipients.
Oversee all faculty research assistants and work study students. Ensure proper documentation for hiring, reviewing hours, and confirming work assignments, interfacing with supervising faculty as needed.
Manage the processing of student public service summer stipends.
Manage the correct completion of timecards for student research assistants and stipend recipients.
Perform other duties as required.
Interfaces with many members of the student body, and various administrative departments, including Special Events and Student Services.
Works with various University departments, including Finance, Purchasing, and Facilities Management. Manages student organization budgets in excess of $400k.
Experience & Educational Background:
Undergraduate degree and at least two years related experience required.
Budgeting and accounts payable experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Excellent computer and communications skills.
Knowledge of accounting concepts required.
