Job Summary: The Assistant/Associate Director of Campus Activities is a key member of the Campus Activities and Programs (CAP Center) team who reports to the Director of Campus Activities and Programs. Primary responsibilities include supervision of 50+ student staff, small and large-scale social and educational programming, advising key student organizations and programs, web development, oversight of 7th Street Studio and Makerspace, coordination of best practice research and assessment, and participation in divisional projects. The Assistant/Associate Director role will participate in a rotation of professional coverage for weekend social programs.
This is a full-time (12-month), exempt (salary) position based in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
Job Duties:
1. Supervise 20+ student staff members at 7th Street Studio & MakerSpace ensuring all students are properly trained on machine safety and operations, able to assist students with projects and questions, and how to use studio resources. Host training days each semester, bi-weekly staff meetings, individual staff meetings, managerial trainings, etc. Develop a student work schedule and coordinate shift coverages.
2. Develop and coordinate weekday skills classes with hired student instructors. Ensure all of their classes are advertised through social media and Bucknell platforms, sign up sheets are posted online, class attendees are added to google calendars and surveys are sent out for students to reflect upon the classes.
3. Develop 25+ weekend events each semester for Bucknell students. Purchase supplies, write instructions/video tutorials, communicate information with event managers and student staff, market events with advertisements and record data from each event.
4. Coordinate with clubs and organizations to provide them with a menu of options for their group to host a team bonding event at the studio. Establish a date/time for the event, purchase materials, communicate with staff members and organization leader, record data from event.
5. Collaborate with faculty members to host academic classes in the studio/makerspace. Responsibilities may include providing the class with a tour, facilitating a hands-on activity, or leading the class session.
6. Day-to Day studio/makerspace operations: Perform machine maintenance, write tutorials, repair machines as needed. Purchase and restock operational materials. Write reports and process expenses. Maintain the studio's website.
7. Additional responsibilities:
Staff Adviser to L'Agenda - Meet with students bi-weekly to check on progress of the yearbook, communicate with parents and students important reminders, respond to student and parent inquiries, proofread and submit all ads for grads and final copy of the book.
Staff Adviser to Design, Thinking and Leadership (DTL) - - Ensure student leaders are establishing a schedule for the program and reaching out to local clients, participate in recruiting events, communicate with parent and student questions, coordinate the reservation of spaces, vehicles, restaurants and activities, help facilitate the 5 day program, and participate in post-program reflections.
Wine Tasting Coordinator -- Hire and train student interns, meet with wine experts to establish a menu of wine and food, reserve spaces and vendors, and write end of semester reflection.
Work Setting: On campus position. A willingness to work evenings and weekends as part of the regular schedule.

Able to work on studio and MakerSpace equipment (including, but not limited to 3D printers, Kiln, pottery wheels, laser-cutter, etc.) for extended periods of time
For the Assistant Director we are looking for someone with:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
1 year of professional experience in a Studio/MakerSpace environment.
Broad understanding of techniques, software, tools and machinery used in a makerspace and craft center environment (i.e. 3D printer, laser cutter, kilns, pottery wheel).
Experience with budget management.
For the Associate Director we are looking for someone with:
Master's degree in a related field.
3 or more years of professional experience in a Studio/MakerSpace environment.
Extensive understanding of techniques, software, tools and machinery used in a makerspace and craft center environment (i.e. 3D printer, laser cutter, kilns, pottery wheel).
Demonstrated ability to manage complex and multiple budgets.
Salary Range: Candidates will be hired into the Assistant Director or Associate Director role following a review of their skills and experience against the minimum qualifications for the positions.
The hiring range for the Assistant Director of Campus Activities/7th Street Studio & MakerSpace is $44,600 to $55,750.
The hiring range for the Associate Director of Campus Activities/7th Street Studio & MakerSpace is $49,200 to $61,500.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
