Overview
As the Academic Administrator for the Office of Academic Affairs, this role will be pivotal in ensuring that academic operations are seamless and efficient. This position will enable the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs to focus on high-level strategic priorities. Lead and manage the administrative functions of the department. Prioritize and coordinate daily activities, ensuring the Vice Dean's time is allocated effectively to align with institutional goals. Strategically manage and balance competing priorities, ensuring that all engagements are purposeful and aligned with broader objectives. Implement internal operational procedures and processes related to academic programs and programming. Execute as-needed exceptions of adjunct appointment processes to ensure compliance with policies and departmental needs under the direction of the Vice Dean. Support student conversations with the Vice Dean and collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and the Academic Advising Team. Manage logistical and operational aspects for Academic Affairs, including event logistics, room reservations, catering, budget monitoring, volunteer assignments, payroll issues, supply purchases, and distribution. Track the budgets and spending of Academic Affairs units and send a monthly report of spend to the Vice Dean. Serve as a liaison with all academic departments and administrative units. Answer questions on behalf of the Vice Dean. Implement in collaboration with the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Chief Operating Officer University-wide and school changes in policies and procedures and recommend changes to departmental procedures to meet new guidelines. Serve as a liaison with other University departments and offices (including, but not limited to, HR, Student Affairs, Global Programs, Finance and Administration, Classroom Scheduling, Registrar, etc) to resolve problems.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: 2+ years administrative experience providing support for office operations; managing complex processes and data sets; and serving as administrative liaison with other organizational offices at all levels.
Preferred Experience: 2+ years Experience in a higher education environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proficient communication skills Strong time management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Excellent communications skills both written and verbal. Ability to present information clearly and concisely Ability to multitask and prioritize work assignments. Represent institutions at community and campus events, in meetings with other institution personnel, and during accreditation processes.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $82,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
