As a part of Student Engagement and Wellness at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, the Center for Equity and Student Achievement (CESA) is committed to student safety and well-being by fostering a university community of integrity and respect. This position is integral to CESA, providing equity-minded, holistic support services and retention programming. This position is primarily responsible for the facilitation, planning, and execution of the Epic Scholars Program. The Epic Scholars Program provides retention services and support to students who are in former foster care, emancipated, unaccompanied youth, experienced formal kinship care, or court-appointed guardianship.
This position coordinates the applicable case management responses for Epic scholar students who experience challenges that may interfere with their retention and timely graduation. This position identifies and executes program assessments to ensure the performance of programs and initiatives to achieve strategic goals. This position supports and reports to the Associate Dean/Director of TRIO SSS. It engages directly with other professional staff across the institution daily to provide timely responses to various complex student needs and support program participants academic development and career readiness.

Duties/Responsibilities
40% - Program Coordination
Lead program design, implementation, strategic planning, partnerships, and assessment
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate academic, career readiness, financial literacy, social, and cultural enrichment activities for students to increase a sense of community, retention, and graduation.
Partner with University Advancement to identify resources and assist with donor relations.
Hire, train, and supervise undergraduate or graduate students.
Monitor and allocate budget expenses and adhere to university fiscal management policies.
Distribute scholarships and other financial assistance to eligible students.
50% - Case Management
Provide individualized holistic advising, academic coaching, and support to a caseload of eligible participants.
Connect students to campus and community resources for food, housing, clothing, personal health and wellness, and public benefits.
Monitor participants academic and personal progress and conduct targeted outreach to increase persistence and graduation.
Maintain documentation of the services provided.
10% - Outreach and Recruitment
Develop strategic campus and community relationships, including city and county agencies, to identify and select eligible students for program services.
Collaborate and create synergy with TRIO Student Support Services to dual enroll and serve eligible students.
Participate on committees and in university events relevant to the student population served. Provide presentations to the campus community and key stakeholders about the Epic Scholars program and the students it serves.
Attend and participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, counseling, sociology, human services, or related field
Three years of professional experience working with case management, advising, or coordinating individual services for students and/or clients.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling, sociology, human services, higher education, student affairs, public administration, or a related field.
Experience responding to crises.
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations such as low-income, first-generation students and students with challenging backgrounds, such as former foster care youth, unaccompanied minors, and emancipated youth.
Experience designing academic, career, or personal development programs, events, or activities for diverse populations.
Public speaking and presentation skills.
Experience in grant writing.
Work Hours
Full-time, 40 hours per week, Exempt

Salary for Announcement
The minimum of the pay range for this position is $45,300. We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $47,300 - $56,650. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. Additionally, Student Affairs has committed to tying our salaries to an understanding of a living wage. To that end, we will not pay less than $47,300.
The above salary range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
