Housing is seeking (4) Area Managers to join the already awesome team taking the department to the next level of excellence!
The Area Manager for Residence Life is a twelve-month, managerial, live-off position. The position’s primary purposes are to oversee the operations of a residential area, supervise staff in the residential area and provide case management for residential issues and concerns.
University Housing has four area manager positions, each of whom directly supervise 2-3 full-time professional staff and oversee a residential area of 1000-2000 residents with 75+ student staff. Full-time professional staff include Residence Hall Directors and Assistant Hall Directors. The Area Manager for Residence Life serves in an on-call rotation and reports to the Assistant Director for their respective residential area.

Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and two years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, or closely related field is preferred and 2-3 years’ full-time post-master’s degree experience in residential student housing experience in a University setting.
Experience working closely with students from diverse backgrounds in a higher education setting.
Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
Experience supervising para-professional staff
Experience with residential curriculum models
Ability to establish and maintain effective student/staff relationships
Knowledge and familiarity with academic advising or intervention strategies
Knowledge and skill in supervisory practices and techniques
Knowledge of counseling, conflict management and crisis intervention strategies
Experience supervising entry-level professionals
Experience implementing student learning and program outcomes assessment
