Housing is seeking (4) Area Managers to join the already awesome team taking the department to the next level of excellence!

The Area Manager for Residence Life is a twelve-month, managerial, live-off position.  The position’s primary purposes are to oversee the operations of a residential area, supervise staff in the residential area and provide case management for residential issues and concerns.  

University Housing has four area manager positions, each of whom directly supervise 2-3 full-time professional staff and oversee a residential area of 1000-2000 residents with 75+ student staff.  Full-time professional staff include Residence Hall Directors and Assistant Hall Directors.  The Area Manager for Residence Life serves in an on-call rotation and reports to the Assistant Director for their respective residential area.

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of supervisory/management experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications: 

• Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, or closely related field is preferred and 2-3 years’ full-time post-master’s degree experience in residential student housing experience in a University setting.
• Experience working closely with students from diverse backgrounds in a higher education setting.
• Experience dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
• Experience supervising para-professional staff
• • Experience with residential curriculum models
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective student/staff relationships
  • Knowledge and familiarity with academic advising or intervention strategies
  • Knowledge and skill in supervisory practices and techniques
  • Knowledge of counseling, conflict management and crisis intervention strategies
  • Experience supervising entry-level professionals
  • Experience implementing student learning and program outcomes assessment
