The University of North Alabama is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Title IX Coordinator/Assistant Director of Prevention, Education, and Response in Title IX. This position is responsible for overseeing and conducting reliable, prompt, fair, and impartial investigations of sex- and gender-based discrimination reports and other civil rights or internal investigations as needed, including, but not limited to, reports of sexual harassment or sexual misconduct in violation of the University’s Sexual Misconduct Policy. This includes providing notice and updates to the parties involved; identifying and interviewing parties and witnesses; compiling relevant and directly-related information; preparing investigative report(s); and presenting and answering questions about the investigative report at any live-hearing occurring as part of the Title IX Grievance Process. This role requires the understanding of many State and Federal laws, including Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, the Clery Act, and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). This position also is categorized as an Official with Authority under Title IX and a Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act and must follow all obligations, including reporting and training, as required by law. Additional responsibilities include assisting with primary prevention and awareness programs, Title IX team training, ongoing educational programming, policy updates, and outreach as needed.

Minimum qualifications for this position includes a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, required; Master’s degree, preferred; Experience with Title IX, civil rights, harassment/discrimination, or criminal and/or law enforcement investigations, preferred; Experience in higher education, preferred; Three years of relevant experience related to investigations, strongly preferred; Title IX Certification from a recognized source (Grand River Solutions, ATIXA, Husch Blackwell, D. Stafford, etc.), preferred; Current, valid driver’s license is required; and the willingness and ability to obtain Title IX Investigator training (as designated and paid for by UNA), required.
