Wilson College is currently accepting applications for the Director of Residence Life position. The role reports to the Vice President for Student Development and is an integral part of the Student Development leadership team. The Director will provide strategic leadership for a comprehensive residence life program and will oversee all on-campus undergraduate student housing at Wilson College, which has a capacity for approximately 425 students. Responsibilities include administrative decision-making, overseeing strategic initiatives related to Residence Life, budget development and management, housing contracts, facility operations, housing assignments, marketing, employee development, office management, and creating departmental policies. The Director will also supervise and provide training for about 15 student resident assistants and participate in the on-call emergency rotation system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates the day-to-day facility operations in seven multi-year residence halls.
Assigns all housing assignments and assesses the billing of room and meal plan charges.
Collaborates with Communications & Marketing and IT to update internal and external web pages related to residence life.
Maintains all necessary files and computer database records on resident students, including student rosters.
Cultivates relationships with various departments, specifically Student Development team, Physical Plant, Housekeeping, Campus Safety, Business Office, Admissions, and Student Financial Services.
Works with the VPSD, Assistant Dean of Student, students, faculty, and staff in the assistance of development and implementation of high-quality programs for residential students.
Works closely with the Director of Physical Plant and the Campus Safety to foster a safe and well-maintained environment for all students.
Serves as part of the on-call rotation and as a resource for professional staff and resident assistants to help with crisis management.
Responsible for conflict mediation/resolution on matters related to residence life which includes imposing appropriate disciplinary sanctions and serves as a conduct officer.
Provides oversight of departmental budget.
Responsibilities also include serving as a Student Development representative on various college and divisional committees and chairing appropriate ad-hoc committees.
Routinely advises the VPSD on all matters concerning residence life.
Attends and presents information at Open Houses, Accepted Student Days, and other Admissions events.
Selects, trains and supervises one graduate assistant and approximately fifteen resident assistans.
Conducts assessment activities for Residence Life and plans/implements any indicated changes.
Works closely with the VPSD to report crime accordingly when administering all aspects of the Clery Act as related to residential students.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Dean of Students in the planning and implementation of new student orientation.
Oversees the selection, training, and supervision the student residence life staff (approximately 15). Oversees and maintains on call schedule for Resident Assistants and support staff.
Oversees the selection, training, and supervision of a Graduate Assistant.
Assists with student mediation, crisis interventions, and roommate conflicts in consultation with the Director of Counseling and VPSD, as necessary.
Works closely with Dean of Students, Campus Activities Board and Wilson College Student Government Association (WCGA) to implement campus programs.
Oversees all aspects of residential administration such as opening and closing of residence halls, room selection, room changes, periodic room inspections, damage inspections and billing reports.
Coordinates and manages summer housing and coordinates with conferences staff.
Maintains and disseminates accurate floor plans to Student Development, RAs, and Campus Safety.
Serves as a representative on the following committees: CARE Team, Parking Committee, Safety Committee, CORE Team, and Onboarding Committee.
Acts as a lab instructor in First Year Seminar (community development, roommate issues, etc.), as needed.
Facilitates self-evaluation, as well as solicit periodic supervisor and student feedback.
Assumes other duties as assigned by the VPSD or Dean of Students.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
Full-time, 12-month position
Variable hours dependent on needs of department. Willingness to work on a flexible basis when activities fall outside of normal working hours.
Some work during evenings and weekends will be required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Master's Degree in student personnel, student affairs administration, counseling or related field
1-3 years professional experience in college student affairs work, judicial affairs, alcohol and drug education
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
