Reporting to the Residence Hall Director (RHD) and serving as a member of the three-person leadership team for the assigned residence hall, this live-in position manages the residence hall's day-to-day community development initiatives and programs in an effort to create residential living/learning communities. Supervises Resident Assistants (RAs) and advises hall council. Provides crisis intervention to residents; assesses nature of problems and resolves or refers to supervisor for resolution. Conducts investigations of alleged violations of University and residence policies; holds meetings, determines degree/seriousness of violations, and issue sanctions. This position is responsible for assigned after-hours/weekend/holiday on-call duties on a rotational basis to address any residence hall based emergency.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education: Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
Required Experience: 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination. Must include experience in community development activities and programming and student staff supervision.
Preferred Experience: Experience working within a residential life/housing program in a university environment; experience with crisis response, student advising, community development, and large-scale program planning.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills. Good leadership and conflict resolution skills. Ability to quickly and effectively respond to emergency situations; communicate with a diverse population and supervise staff. Ability to work with standard office software package.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $72,015.86. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
