POSITION DETAILS

The Manager for Access Initiatives will provide strategic direction and administrative oversight for the Pipeline to Justice Program, a signature and innovative access initiative that seeks to diversify the legal profession by preparing students from underrepresented and marginalized communities to earn a Juris Doctorate. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, this role will develop existing access initiatives and lead efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the law school community.
In addition to the position summary and the CUNY Title Overview, other key duties include, but are not limited to the following:
?? Design and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the Pipeline to Justice Program overseeing all stages of the recruitment process.
?? Work closely with Admissions to develop and implement outreach strategies to engage prospective students and recruit a diverse student body, including first-generation students, and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
?? Oversee the grant management life cycle (e.g. manage grant award(s), compliance with funder requirements, monitor grant progress and performance, and ensure project goals are met) for institutional and grant funded access initiatives.
?? Coordinate with Institutional Research, campus partners and the central office to ensure accurate and timely reporting of grant finances, grant compliance, programmatic reporting, and other deliverables.
?? Collaborate with Academic Affairs to support student retention and success, and enhance the student experience
?? Partner with other CUNY institutions and pipeline programs to create pathways to legal education for students from underrepresented and diverse backgrounds.
?? Serve on the University-wide Black Male Initiative committee; Serve as a member of the Admissions Committee.
?? Prepare and submit regular reports to funders, the law school community and the central office as needed/requested
Like other administrators and staff in the Law School, you are subject to the same in-person requirements, which entail a minimum of 70% in-person on-campus presence over two weeks. This requirement for in-person work may be higher than 70% based on departmental and divisional needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in higher education administration or related degree; or Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
4 to 6 years' experience developing and managing programs serving a diverse student population in a higher education setting
In depth understanding of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion in legal education and knowledge of best practices related to promoting access
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Experience with data analysis and assessment, including the ability to use date driven decision-making and measure outcomes
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Proficient in the use of technology, grant management software, financial reporting systems, Microsoft 365, collaboration tools and social media
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Manages a College Enrollment function or unit.
Oversees daily office activities and staff development to ensure efficient and effective enrollment operations
Assists senior management in developing plans, implementing initiatives and assessing performance
Recommends and implements improvements to schedules, policies and procedures to advance unit effectiveness
Serves as resource expert on enrollment practices to resolve complex student issues, and assists students with special circumstances in receiving support
Plans and executes workshops, orientation sessions, and events to acquaint students with enrollment processes
Reviews and approves content for print and on-line enrollment materials
Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management
May manage professional and/or clerical staff as well as department budget

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
