RENUMERATION: The Residence Hall Coordinator is a twelve (12) month, full-time staff member who receives staff benefits (hospitalization, medical, life, vision, dental, tuition fee waiver, and retirement benefit program). A 2 bedroom, furnished apartment is provided for the Residence Hall Coordinator (spouse and partners welcome). Utilities are provided during the appointment term. A meal plan equivalent to $1,000 is also provided in the Fall and Spring semesters. This position is up for yearly review to determine renewal of position. The annual salary is $40,000.
This position is a non-exempt position: when the staff member is on call and must respond to an incident, or when the staff member goes beyond the 40 hours/week, they will be received an adjusted schedule, compensation time, and/or over-time pay for hours worked.

LAWRENCE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVESRITY IS SEEKING A FULL TIME, LIVE-IN UNIVERSITY HOUSING PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEMBER. THIS STAFF MEMBER WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MANAGING A STUDENT BUILDING HOUSING APPROXIMATELY 200 STUDENTS, SUPERVISING STUDENT STAFF TO DEVELOP A CULTURE OF LEADERSHIP AND STUDENT INVOLVEMENT, SERVING IN AN ON-CALL ROTATION, AND ASSISTING THE DIRECTOR OF RESIDENCE LIFE WITH ADDITONAL EVENTS AND PROGRAMMING ON CAMPUS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Below are the essential duties of the Residence Hall Coordinator. Additional duties may be assigned if necessary.
SUPERVISION
Directly supervise student staff of 8-12 Resident Assistants and 1 Senior Resident Assistant. Co-supervise (with Senior Resident Assistant) a staff of 5-10 non-RA Desk Receptionists.
Assist staff with personal and professional development by planning and implementing Fall and Spring staff trainings and in-services when necessary.
Assist staff with developing inclusive communities through social and educational programming and quality resident interactions.
Facilitate weekly staff meetings to help further student staff professional development, discuss current issues, and provide staff with necessary University Housing and University updates.
Facilitate weekly one on one meetings with Resident Assistant staff members.
Conduct informal staff evaluations as staff progresses and formal staff evaluations at the completion of the Fall semester.
Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed by staff and turned in on time, including but not limited to, Apartment/Room Condition Inventories, 7 Day Counts, Program Evaluations, payroll submissions, etc.
CRISIS MANAGEMENT & EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Participate in the professional staff on-call duty rotation to ensure the safety of residents. Rotations occur for one week periods from Monday-Monday and are shared with other Hall Coordinators, Student Life staff, and graduate students approved by the Director of Residence Life.
Assist with student conflicts via mediation and make appropriate referrals when necessary to the University Counseling Center, CARE Team, Director of Residence Life, Dean of Students, etc.
Serve as primary judicial officer for building incidents.
STUDENT DEVELOPMENT
Assist with developing a residence hall community that encompasses student learning, responsibility, involvement, leadership, and safety and embraces and supports diversity and differences of individuals.
Maintain an open office door policy and provide service to each student equally and fairly and advise appropriately on student issues and concerns.
Maintain a reasonable presence within the residence halls and campus community.
Help maintain a positive image of University Housing and address negative issues in a prompt and appropriate manner.
Maintain appropriate relationships with students.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Assist with department processes, including but not limited to, building openings and closing, student staff training, student staff evaluations, department programs and events, student staff hiring selection, housing renewal, summer camps, etc.
Assist in updating the University HousingGuidelines, student staff policies and procedures, and Housing procedures.
Attend and assist with division events and processes.
Collaborate with other University events, including but not limited to Student Life events, Open Houses, Summer Camps, and other events as they arise.
Develop and maintain relationships with other departments, specifically Student Life, Campus Safety, Campus Facilities, and Campus Dining.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Maintain building records including key audits, maintenance work orders, etc.
Assist, when necessary, with maintaining building occupancy report, reporting room changes, etc.
Attend weekly University Housing professional staff meetings, weekly or as needed one on ones with supervisor, and Division meetings as requested.
Inform Director of Residence Life of all building issues and concerns.
Check lines of communication (email, mailbox, voicemail, etc.) daily and respond in a timely manner.
Maintain building programming budgets for RA programs, building wide programs, and additional events/programs as needed.
Maintain student confidentiality as it pertains to FERPA.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to type and use a word processor (MS Office Suite preferred), must be highly organized and be able to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Good communication skills, both written and oral, ability to deal with people from various age groups, backgrounds and level of education is required. Excellent customer services skills in a fast paced environment is a must.

The position requires the employee to perform some of the responsibilities off campus, such as purchasing programming materials. While acting as a representative of Lawrence Technological University, it is important that the employee be knowledgeable and professional. Communication skills (both oral and written), organizational skills, and the ability to handle changing priorities are essential for success in this position. This position will require working some evenings and weekends.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Required: Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of professional experience working in a residence hall required.
Preferred: Master’s degree in higher education, college student personnel, counseling or related field and two years of experience managing a residence hall. Experience working with a student athlete population is a plus.
